He hardly politicized it, and to whatever extent he did (research funding), the OP politicized it far more.
Horse shite I asked how it was related

I think his point is that you shouldn't have to go bankrupt to get the necessary care for your child.
You don't have to if you make sure you have proper coverage prior to having kids.
Do you donate to charities that help pay the medical bills of kids with irresponsible parents?
Posted on 5/2/17 at 11:10 am to roadGator
Nah. We're extremely red up here. We murder the children ourselves so the government can't tax us for them.

Kimmel's monologue about his son was actually pretty genuine and correct. It wasn't overly political, it wasn't propaganda.
I agree.
It is what others are doing with it that is so distasteful.

I don't understand struggle - get insurance prior to kid birth.
I haven't had a child is it more difficult then that.
Honest question?

quote:First off, WTF does that have to do with Jimmy Kimmel's employer plan? NOTHING!
You clearly don't understand what community rating and EHBs are.
Maybe look those up and then rejoin the conversation.
Second lets go thru your BS step by step.
WTF does it have to do with anyone else's employer plan? i.e., 49% of Americans -- NOTHING!
What does it have to do with Americans on Public Health Plans? i.e., 36% of Americans -- NOTHING!
So now that we know you're only talking about the 7% of Americans actually currently subjected to obamacare, what in the world would lead you to believe with the AHCA it won't be your decision whether your kid can be insured? That is such a stupid stupid statement!

And he didn't say otherwise. Insurance is not mentioned once. It discusses the importance of everybody having access to that healthcare and research funding for such conditions. I think those are pretty widely held views on both sides, although it's complicated.
The OP was the one who brought up insurance.
This 100%. No need to start bashing Kimmel for wanting everyone to have access to affordable healthcare.

No, you shouldn't. If you do, it's because you were poorly prepared to have a child, and that's not my fault. It's certainly not on me enough to have the federal government force me to pay for their child's care.

Kimmel used his personal story to blast President Donald Trump for trying to cut $6 billion in funding from the National Institutes of Health, and he applauded Congress for doing the opposite and increasing funding by $2 billion.

I am for this
Doesn't need to be named Obamacare
Also let's talk about why healthcare is a cluster frick. Liability insurance, drug cost, and etc
Posted on 5/2/17 at 11:14 am to thelawnwranglers
People like BamaAtl will have you believe that before the ACA, insurance companies were dropping anyone that got pregnant or took their kid in for running a temperature.

That isn't what most are after, though. They want healthcare that others pay for. It was never about being affordable. It was about giving away free healthcare in exchange for votes, and they bought it, thinking it would be something it could never have been.

I would never consider having a child without the ability to provide food, shelter, education, clothing, love and medical care.
It seems like common sense to me.

Exactly there is not one affordable change. It is taxpayers subsdizing insurance.
I am not against that necessarily. Get big healthcare the frick out and start making it affordable.
For all I care go full China. You can't sue for malpractice. If you commit malpractice death penalty is on table.

I mean, yeah, of course, but life happens. Even the average middle-class family would more likely than not experience some form of financial stress if their child had to have a major surgery like Kimmel's kid.

I was made aware via CNN so likely they politicized. I didn't take time to figure out what parts of their reporting was bullshite.
That said I agree with Jimmy insurance for all. I don't know that we don't have that. Even if we repeal and replace.
It just seems classic confusing facts, emotional story, and we need tax payers to do x -- profit lobbyist
