In the end he says kids wouldn't get this surgery if born without insurance. I am not sure that is factual, but the idea was if kid was born without insurance this was a preexisting condition.

It's a sob story. Tugs at heartstrings and supposedly Obamacare would take care of all of it. Of course, those same people would have to put up a $10-$15k deductible, plus a 50% co-insurance, but hey...Ocare is great!!!

It just seems like non-sense one of our countries riches is relating his outstanding healthcare access to others. There is no connection. If Jimmy Kimmel was on obamacare we have a story.

But Obamacare isn't even in the story; in fact, the only policy discussed was funding for medical research.

You know he meant to type don't have kids if you can't insure them and he's right.

Don't have kids if you can't feed them.
Don't have kids if you don't want to participate in their upbringing.
Don't have kids if you don't get involved with their education.

And on and on and on...

Poverty can't be ended with so many parents that shouldn't be having kids.

I agree, but I think having difficulty insuring some rare condition is a lot different than being able to insure a typical child.

Leftist never let the facts or the truth get in the way of a good story or a con job.

He said his experience shows why all Americans need access to health care, especially those ? like his son ? born with preexisting conditions.

Yeah, this isn't about Obamacare at all.

Because his son now has a pre-existing condition. Should an insurance company be forced to cover him?

Kimmel has zero difficulty insuring his child.

It's propaganda.

The left decries things like the politicization of Kate Steinle's death and the fight against illegal immigration (which I actually agree with. way too much propaganda from both sides). But then they turn around and use this.

Both sides suck. The left is just crazier than the right.

I doubt very many babies are born without insurance. There is special medicaid that mothers can get while pregnant and then the baby gets when they are born.

Also if a kid is born with a heart problem and needs surgery, the hospital isn't just saying "welp tough luck you don't have insurance little guy" and waiting for him to die on the table.

If AHCA passes, it won't be your decision whether your kid can be insured - it'll be a bureaucrat in Blue Shield or Aetna's offices making that decision about your child's life.

I would argue that is their prerogative as a business to make that call on whether they want to insure an individual or not

And he didn't say otherwise. Insurance is not mentioned once. It discusses the importance of everybody having access to that healthcare and research funding for such conditions. I think those are pretty widely held views on both sides, although it's complicated.

The OP was the one who brought up insurance.
