Until now.

You’re statement isn’t necessarily wrong, but IMO you paint with too wide a brush. In most instances in fact. Once again, JMO.

We need people to make better choices. You dont get that with the nanny state.
That’s stupid.
The US is horrible when it comes to the kind of shite we have on our shelves. Go to Europe and look at the women there. It’s not just about “making better choices” and even if it were, good luck with that in America. Go to a grocery store in Germany or Denmark. You don’t see any of the rainbow chips or two thousand options of donut. The US is embarrassing.
If we mimicked Scandinavia’s culture with food and food options every single person in this country would be better off.
I had so much pasta and bread when I was in Europe and not once have I come back to the states and gained a single pound. And their bread is WAAAAAY better.

Idiocy comes with the nanny state.
You are just an idiot if you think having dyes allowed in foods that cause health issue that I end up paying for in increased insurance costs and also grocery costs due to economies of scale regarding healthy options.

Here is a solution.
Dont buy food with dyes.

the last time I came home from the middle east (dammam, ksa) I brought home a bag of haribo gummy bears from the airport
my son is into health and ingredients in food and he went to the local store and bought the same haribo gummy bears here
he compared the ingredients labels and nutritional info and it was stark how different they were. The gummy bears had different dyes, additives, preservatives etc
I wish I still had the labels, I would share the info but I dont. I will bring some back next time I go and compare

Yes we do. What are you going to do about those kids that are eating tortillas, refried beans and rice with almost every meal? Because this is also a cultural issue too. Are you going to tell them not to because it's bad or eliminate the option? Or how about this scenario: the fat kids that mostly eat at fast food, or at schools because the parent(s) don't do much cooking. What can be done to save those kids and what do you do with the parents?People are the problem here just like with drugs and alcohol. Look in the mirror if you want a solution and make better choices if you have problems.

Ban several chemicals

I am saying that taxpayers shouldn't be paying for crappy cheap food which causes significant chronic health conditions when consumed over time, leading to costly and avoidable diseases which taxpayers then have to pay to take care of. They can limit what can be purchased by EBT to healthy items only.

A good start over 4 years would be to have all the chemicals in our foods that’s already banned in other countries be banned here, too.
I’d love to see the pharma + doctor = patient Rx relationship disrupted.

Do what they used to do. Limit what you can buy on food stamps.

Disagree. Companies need to be de-incentivized from putting cheap crap in food products.

I imagine we could look up some old threads over super liberal areas regulating/banning things like, soda, and we will find some 180s.

Is anyone else shocked that two weeks after the election that was won by “look at how much I pay at the grocery store,” that now we’re all willing to enact sweeping changes to our food supply that will massively increase the cost of food?
