Meh. Getting it back to the states was the right thing. There’s no law or constitutional right on the books.

Let the states decide. They did in KS.

This is not the problem. The problem is that KS voters chose murder. You probably don't see it that way, but its a sad day when a conservative state gets its chance to overturn the most heinous practice in human history and
instead they vote to affirm it. I just never thought I'd see that happen. How far we've fallen as a nation.

this is what I am wondering. From what I read, the only choice was to give it to the legislature or not give it to the legislature. Perhaps there’s a majority that doesn’t want to give it to the legislature because they would rather it be on the ballot itself. I’m not sure, but that was my first thought when I read the story.

Kansas is full of leftists… it is a state that is absolutely worthless. Bunch of union yankee fricks. They do not matter in the grand scheme of things.

Can't imagine why you, a Texas fan, would be upset at Kansas. Oh wait

I’m going to disagree here. I’m pro life, but I can tell you for a fact that there are a lot of women (soccer moms) who either had an abortion themselves or know someone close to them who had one.

And no, lots of them don’t share this information with men. I can almost guarantee, you know someone personally who had an abortion.

A lot of republicans support abortion.

They just think it should be a state issue.

If you get them really drunk they will share it with you. Key is to go to a tournament with quick access to bars that serve mojitos.

In case you were wondering, KC Star reports BOTH sides spent about $6 million each on the abortion campaign. I'm sure there was misleading campaigning on both sides, but that blatantly misleading text that went out to Democratic voters in KS yesterday was a pretty low tactic.

Access to abortion is an important issue to many Americans even in conservative states like Kansas. And you can bet on that issue affecting moderate voters in swing suburban districts all over the country.

The 2022 "Red Wave" is shrinking!

Here is the exact wording from the ballot -

§ 22. Regulation of abortion.
Because Kansans value both women
and children, the constitution of the
state of Kansas does not require
government funding of abortion
and does not create or secure a
right to abortion. To the extent
permitted by the constitution of the
United States, the people, through
their elected state representatives
and state senators, may pass laws
regarding abortion, including, but
not limited to, laws that account
for circumstances of pregnancy
resulting from rape or incest, or
circumstances of necessity to save
the life of the mother

O Yes
O No

Based on this word salad, no one voted for abortion. They voted for or against letting state representatives change what is on the books. So, your vote changes depending on your perception of the current law which now matters since the Supreme Court ruling.

Lots of conservatives have abortions.

They know their daughters, wives, lovers, mothers, and randos had abortions.

You can either keep safe legal abortion or have people you care about get harmed from lack of abortion access.

Kansas showed that.
We've heard this before. Despite it having no intellectual value, it gets your juices flowing. Makes me wonder how many times your daddy ended up in your bed with you, smelling of PBR, telling you "remember not to tell your mama about this."

Like I said it’s all about the wording and messaging.

Good people don’t want abortion on demand, but are also moved by horror stories (however inaccurate or rare) about abortion laws impacting treatment for ectopic pregnancies, premature sac rupture etc.

The bills and ballot measures have to be worded in a way that unambiguously targets elective abortions of healthy pregnancies, which are by far the most common instances of the evil procedure.

Until people are assured that the vast minority of hopelessly doomed pregnancies can be terminated we won’t be able to protect the vast majority of healthy ones.

The human brain, if idle or misled, is drawn downwards, like water in a river. It takes effort and work to swim against the current. This is why you see so many weak minds on the Left. Am I painting with a broad brush? Sure, why not. But it's close enough to being true that I'm okay with it.

You’re applying your values on others. Respect their values. They voted. That’s what this is about.

Yeah...I definitely support pedophiles. Such an absurd statement from someone who is likely religious and supports institutions where that is rampant.

A clear majority of Americans support Roe/Casey and do NOT support Dobbs. That is not so say that for all 50 states as there are probably 12-18 states where a majority support Dobbs. But even in those places, most do not want abortion at 6 weeks to be prosecuted as if it was murder. The stringent abortion bans adopted by many states are what is going to hurt Republicans in 2022 and beyond.
