Seriously I don't understand it...a veto-proof majority republican legislature and the amendment to end abortion rights falls like 60/40 at the hands of voters. I will say this, the law was written in a dumb way and many were confused before the vote, not to mention the inundation of leftist media campaign of "all women will die" bullshite. This state is just strange.

I truly believe that Roe v. Wade being overturned is more unpopular among the American people than what some may believe. This vote was basically sign #1 of that.

The only reason to be in Kansas is whitetail.

I forget the details but the democrats honed in on Kansas and spent a crap ton of money for this.

Wrong. Abortion is just not a top issue for normal people, just like climate change and LGBTQ issues and the war in Ukraine.
Polls on abortion typically show overwhelming support because pollsters were telling people than if Roe V Wade was overturned then it would outlaw abortion in the whole US.
Its time to let the people have the debate on abortion in their own states. We've never been allowed to actually vote and go through a democratic process when it comes to abortion.
The left loves nothing more than to skip over the people and get judges to force down their favorite policies.

Lots of conservatives have abortions.
They know their daughters, wives, lovers, mothers, and randos had abortions.
You can either keep safe legal abortion or have people you care about get harmed from lack of abortion access.
Kansas showed that.

This is the key, and has been a colossal failure in many states. They’ve had all the time in the world to write straightforward legislation that prohibits ELECTIVE abortions of viable healthy pregnancies and leaves the truly tragic situations up to patient and doctor.

Yes they did. My phone must have gotten 20 texts. The messaging was hard to overcome because people believed that this law wouldn't have allowed even ectopic pregnancy to be terminated which was simply untrue.

Here's how I see abortion. About 1/3 people really care about keeping it, 1/3 want to get rid of it, and 1/3 are indifferent. This is just based on my own life experiences.
I am in the 1/3 that wants it gone. I'm hoping to push the needle and make some traction into the indifferent 1/3.
It is probably hard to win this issue outright on a statewide ammendment like this even in KS, especially of not worded correctly.

Horrible deceit from the left but these bills need to be written with explicit language protecting treatment for these kinds of situations.

Ok so someone watching TV at home saw an ad that convinced them murder should remain legal? Not buying this explanation

1) It’s kansas. kansas is shithole. res ipsa loquitur
2) I’ve noted it before tonight. kansas is weird on abortion. It’s a conservative state that elects a lot of Democrats and likes abortion. Tiller is one of the most notorious abortionists of all time. And he was set up in Wichita and regularly performed third-trimester abortions. He personally performed 1,000 abortions/year for years.

I have been a poll worker through 4 elections. Two presidential, one midterm and todays primary. Today was by far the busiest Election Day I have worked. My precinct saw over 1200 voters come through the door. Tons of unaffiliated voters voted today.

It's states rights. That's what they voted for. frick 'em!
