I find a lot of these articles about “systemic racism” to be bullshite, but in Milwaukee and Minneapolis for example the city planners back in the 60s 70s and 80s definitely didn’t care about (or weren’t provided with any finding for) beautifying areas that were pseudo-designated for minorities. Virtually no parks, virtually no trees, virtually no sidewalks

Do-gooders went door to door in Detroit trying to put free trees everywhere and got told to go frick themselves.
The feedback they got from the community was along the lines of “You didn’t ask us if we wanted them and acted like we were too dumb to know why they are good.”

Yah I remember that - it was provably handled the wrong way but don’t get me wrong I’m not saying “poor victims”.
You have to grovel and pander and grease their palms to get them to welcome help. Saw it first hand in Milwaukee. If you just show up to help they’ll cry “white saviour” or “gentrification” or accuse you of having ulterior motives
