But, DeSantis has the benefit of having watched Trump for several years. Cruz is a very smart but obviously socially uncomfortable/insecure person (at least in terms of politicians). He couldn't confidently go at Trump once it got into name calling.
DeSantis still has his work cut out for him, but he has the tools to handle it better. We'll see, provided Trump doesn't dodge him.
