Trump is slick. Obviously DeSantis would own Trump on substance but that's not enough. See someone like Ted Cruz.
Tactically, the best objective move for DeSantis on a debate stage is to dominate on substance and be dismissive of Trump's antics like the man child he is. But he'd have to be able to keep his composure when Trump needles him incessantly and nobody has been able to do it (save perhaps Biden TBH).
Of course, DeSantis is probably in a no win situation. If you successfully embarrass Trump his supporters will NEVER vote for Ron. Having your hero cut down leaves a lasting mark.

Don't think that's a fair assessment. Trump isn't afraid to debate. He's done it plenty of times. He's not a particularly skilled or tactical debater but he gets his wins in punchlines and bombastic moments.

GOP gonna GOP and vote for whom ever wins the primary, at least they better. It's not going to matter either way. The Dems have mastered the art of stealing an election and nothing has been corrected in the states where the most fraud occurred
