Yeah I think that idea of a threat has been a “weapon” used by Iran long before this event. Communicate the threat of possible mines in all other sea lanes through the area, besides the one(s) they want to funnel folks through. Then play whatever games they wish, ie boarding and harassing, delaying, and many other tactics centered around funneling ships into their (Iran proper, as well as its proxy “armies.” Mostly the latter I’m guessing.

The only thing that matters is how much oil is leaving the ME. The route is insignificant.
If these others routes are being utilized more, then it's only natural that the pre-war levels in the strait will never be reached as countries choose more secure routes to prevent this issue in the future.

They should shoot holes in those boats so that they sink, then turn around and capture everybody in the boats. (They would be returned after the war) see what Iran does next.

About 189 of those "mines" out of approximately 200 alleged "mines" were inflated trash bags.
