What vote were you watching?

you missed it earlier. they tried to keep from a aye/nay vote because all the GOPes hooped and hollered when they asked for "nays" and said the nays had it.

Gaetz then told them "nope, take the vote."

Some people cite scripture, others, well they cite PT threads. I guess that makes Chicken the Holy Ghost of sorts.

Nah, this is how our Republic - our DEMOCRACY - is supposed to work. There are real things we are fighting about. Let it all be out in the open.

Whoever can yell the loudest wins!

Yeah, a threat to democracy that would be.

Are you high?

???

That's very literally what happened. The voice vote sounded more like McCarthy had an easy majority. The recorded vote (each member stating either yea, nay or not present) told a bit of a different story (as witnessed by the forced vacancy).

Makes you think how much else in history has passed under the same “all say yay or nay” system.

These reps who spoke in favor of and voted for McCarthy - Do they think that THIS is what national republicans who sent them to Washington wanted? Another Continuing Resolution to the Dem run House?

frick every single one of them. I hope they all face an uphill primary battle because they all sorely deserve one.

Let's all bow our heads and pray for disfunction. Shut the government down until they can do what is right for the American taxpayer, not government, not China, not Iran, not Mexico, not Europe, not Ukraine, not Russia. The American taxpayer, whom they have been destroying for 40 years.

But I can't help but feel like this will backfire on the GOP spectacularly and render them more impotent than ever before.

Exactly. DEMs are lying in wait in response to this.

McCarthy fricked up royally by not following through on his promises.

I don't think he could. He gambled Gaetz couldn't (or wouldn't) file the motion. He was wrong.

Now we get to see what Gaetz can do in response to this victory, and if it remains virtue signaling or if he can get his guy in the spot of SOH.

I honestly didn’t know how to feel about this.

But I turned on Fox and saw Cavuto crying like a little girl. So now I know Gaetz did the right thing.

It amazes me how much better the left is at working tandem than the right. McCarthy fricked up royally by not following through on his promises.

I think what you are saying is very common. I think you just look at it from the wrong lens. If your lens is that these are all upright people trying to do what's best for the country with a conservative agenda, this makes no sense. If your lens is what I contend is more correct, that republicans are just there for the parties and know that they get elected by never taking controversial votes and being able to say what their voters want to hear without ever trying to achieve it, it makes total sense. Most republicans are on the same team as most democrats, which is do what elites want and get paid for having no principles.

That's why "leadership negotiate and deliver block votes" always works in congress. You ever wonder how the leadership knows that the conciliatory package that no one in congress knows what is in it will pass?

McCarthy promised to defund the IRS. He reneged on his promise. He had to go!

We don't want Republican legislators who consort with the democrats. It's that simple.
