I replied to the wrong person.

Of course I want a guy to be Christian as my president but his personality and his policies are important also.

That's why I said what I said about Trump.
Same with Vivek

I rarely care about voting on this board, but would any of the downvoters of this statement care to explain how it’s incorrect from an orthodox Christian perspective?

Ohio should be a Republican lock, but this guy is not going to resonate with real Americans who actually work for a living. It’s going to be sad to see a Democrat getting elected Governor for the first time 2006.

Yeah, that just cemented the fact that he has reached the pinnacle of his political career as a Republican. He’s denied the very foundational belief of Christian Ideology, and the Republican Base is Christian.

Don’t mean he can’t be an effective politician depending on policy. I don’t think Trump believed in Jesus’s Divinity when he ran the first time. He was agnostic at the most. A miraculous miss and a bullet to the ear might have swayed his belief.

Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Jesus is the way the truth and the life. Nobody comes to the Father but through Him. Full stop.

End of discussion.

Pray Vivek comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Um, yes, He is. But just for kicks... in your scenario, who is the creator?

but I also disagree with Protestants who think they can interpret the bible on their own and determine by that interpretation how to get to heaven.

You mean, people who might be able to read the Bible for themselves and realize that the selling of indulgences and buying their way into heaven, or their loved ones' way into heaven, is completely foreign to scripture?

I disagree with the Catholic church whose Pope threatened to excommunicate anyone who printed the Bible, in an effort to keep the Bible out of the hands of common people who could read for themselves where the Catholic church was corrupt. And it's fundamentally against the multiple scriptures that exhort Christians to study scripture for themselves. It's not just corrupt...it's stupid.

I was admittedly being a little disingenuous and flippant with my description, but the orthodox Christian view (with its platonic influence showing) is that the Father, while the instigator of creation, accomplished creation through the Son.

Well, yes. When society, politicians, and the ruling class all echo the same narrative that any and every race or ethnicity, other than white, can express all of the pride and favoritism they want for their own race and be commended as being brave why would they not? Literally the only race that you will be demonized for if you have pride in it is the white race and we are to blame for that because we haven't grown a big enough set of balls to tell everyone else to frick all the way off.

I agree with this probably more than most would but exactly what does this have to do with the topic?

Yet he keeps talking about how he’s going to hell, which is sort of an odd thing to say

Don’t care and neither should you because no one in the Democrat party supports Biblical principles and if you elect a Democrat then you will get what you deserve

Bunch of nice Christian folk telling me to go frick myself is a real nice touch.

I was just pointing out a difference in religious perspectives based on different faiths. Maybe Vivek is wrong biblically, but he wasn't being an a-hole. The fact is that none of us really knows what lies beyond death. Everyone should be free to have their own view provided that it doesn't come at the cost of others freedom.

I wouldn't vote for him for President, but if I was a voter in Ohio and that was the only choice other than a leftist, I would definitely vote for him.
