That could happen from any disease that we aren’t shutting down the country for.

Holy hyperbole with the posted pics.

Society is a little bit different than 80 years ago.

You're right. We are way more dependent on luxuries.

Look up the ratio of farmers to citizens then and now.

My grandparents grew their own vegetables and raised their own meat during the Depression.

How many can do that now?

We can't live without toilet paper, much less empty grocery store food shelves.

Good point. We are certainly less prepared to deal with an economic crisis than they were then. Survival skills, like being able to hunt, skin an animal, and make crafts to use or sell, are things most don't have.

I certainly don't. I am very frugal, and don't believe in wasting things, or buying something I'm not absolutely certain I have a good use for. That helps me. I was raised to have common sense, and to know how to spot false information, by my dad. But I was not raised to have any handy skills. Changing job markets due to technological advances, over time, have demanded less of that kind of skill. Which is, unfortunately, detrimental in times of emergency.

I bet that none of the adults in those pics are still alive.

But to your point, we are going to have 30% unemployment and still have a virus around.

This lady wasn’t actually one of the transient homeless. She was moving by car with her husband & kids and they happened to stop at one of the camps.

That is the way the world has always worked. Either you lose a parent or you die before you do. This is a universal condition.

Not if we don’t get back to work. In fact, modern men are so damn pampered it will turn out worse.

Agreed.

Moot point though, as the same can be said for any disease.

Your 100% right. This is messed up and I don’t see how Trump wins the election because of this.

And life is all that matters. Don't worry about quality of life or providing for your family. Don't worry about the government taking away your rights. Don't worry about more people having to depend on the government. History has shown that none of those will lead to a bad situation. Just be glad you're alive. It makes total sense for 99% of the population to suffer so that 1% doesn't die.

1% are not at risk of dying. 0.1% are not going to die.

Fauci says a worst case scenario is about 0.05% might die - our oldest and sickest. A group that has a mortality rate before corona virus ever existed that was as scary as the virus itself.
