At least in NY, that's not correct. If you bring in anything more than two cartons, it's considered trafficking, and they can and will bust you hard for it.

There's also tons of rulings/laws for buying cigarettes from tribal land, both state and federal, that you're glossing over.

I thought Democrats didn't want our guns? Just another of their long list of lies.

I used to be on another message board that leaned to the left. They always said "nobody is coming for your guns" but they wanted "common sense gun laws". . . They went as far to claim they were all for the second amendment as well.

When you asked for specifics on what they wanted, they would never really tell you. All you got was vague comments. In the wake of the tragic shootings, they always wanted to do something to address the specific shooting at the time. Limit magazine capacity, limit action, limit caliber, register ammunition and guns.

Not any one law would move the needle to reduce gum crimes. Even the culmination of all the gun laws they wanted to enact wouldn't make a meaningful impact on the crime. Just the ability to own guns legally.

TLDR: this is how death by a thousand cuts works.

This really would be ground zero for a war.

Once there is blood shed from either side, things will escalate VERY quickly.

Hoping the courts get involved sooner than later to put a kubosh on this gun grab.

They need to get those laws before SCOTUS ASAP and have them struck down or else there will be bloodshed.

It won’t spark a civil war like some think, but there will be some nasty altercations

I agree with all this, if the courts don't jump in and protect second amendment rights then things will quickly spiral out of control.

They’re hoping for bloodshed imo. It will allow them to paint gun owners as crazy and use it to justify gun control measures because a ton of Americans will see it and be emotionally appalled.

It’s why the courts need to get involved now and strike that shite down 100%

When, where, and by whom will all of this blood be shed?

Where are Police and National Guard in this scenario?

There is no court in this country with the authority to strike down laws that haven’t even been voted on. There is no legal case right now, no one’s rights are impacted by the Governor of Virginia saying things into a microphone.

3/4 of them desert their posts to join and defend their families, loved ones and friends from the racist tyrant in the VA. governor's mansion.

Even so the LEO's are saying "WE" are not abiding by this. So even if some whiny liberal in a bathrobe starts flailing away with a tiny wooden hammer and some ink and paper, the gun grab is not happening. There are no persons willing to go out and execute the grab. The most essential part of the equation to make it work is PEOPLE and they ain't doing it.

Would you go into Appalachia and knock on those people’s doors asking to take their gun?

I wouldn’t

Setting aside the absurdity of your suggestion from a policy and law enforcement standpoint... if that happens you’ll get the US Army

You actually think they are giving up their oaths, jobs, pensions, and other related benefits?

Of course we’re also ignoring that any unconstitutional law will be easily stayed and stricken down.

When the other option is likely “get shot being used as a foot soldier in an unnecessary crisis”? Possibly.

Not 100% but few will want to put themselves on the front lines of seizing guns from the populace.

The court should have heard and struck down the assault weapons and magazine ban from Maryland when they had the chance. The court's cowardice in hearing just 1 case, NY handgun ban outside home, has fueled gun control legislation.

Much like how after FOPA froze machine guns and lead to a plethora of gun control laws shortly after its passage, so too has not hearing more gun control cases involving the types of firearms and magazines. Since Heller we have had 13 states pass red flag laws with 1 about to pass, 1 state passed magazine ban and another state looking to pass red flag laws, a magazine ban and semi auto ban. Several other states with magazine bans have even further restricted capacity like NYC and New Jersey.

Basically the court has allowed restrictions to continue to the point where the only right we have is a handgun but that too can be restricted in whatever manner allowed.

The court is going to have to hear cases and make the rulings it should have been doing for the last decade.

I've not followed this at all. Can someone give a brief explanation of what Virginia is trying to do regarding their gun laws?

Racist governor Northam and his cohorts in the legislature are cooking up a whole range of draconian gun laws including outright banning.

VA just got heavy majorities in their legislature and senate.

As a result, the fringe left idiots in NOVA are trying hard to push a raft of new gun laws including, but not limited to the following-

Criminalizing teaching people how to shoot (including Concealed Carry classes)
Banning all magazines above X shots
An exorbitant tax on ammunition sales
Various other laws which amount to confiscation which is to be performed by local and state law enforcement.

About 90% of the state has declared themselves as 2nd Amendment Sactuary Counties / cities and told the legislature to frick off. And a large number of them are preparing to deputize large numbers of citizens to join a militia which exempts them from such requirements.

The state AG and a number of legislators are still blustering about how this will become law and whining about how you can’t ignore the law. You know, ignoring that cities and states are ignoring immigration law by declaring themselves as sanctuaries.

Do you also have little faith in Sen McConnell and President Trump, who appointed between a third and a half of the federal judiciary?

I’m from the mountains of VA. No one will go into a holler and take guns.

What they will do is bust an ex-jock family man in Richmond that votes R though. Selective enforcement in the suburbs.

You will likely see tds freaks ratting out their neighbors because their kid told them the parent has guns. This will be done in the name of safety even though it will be simple retribution.

If they do this, it will be a mess.
