I know people in Chicago who think the idea of carrying a gun is absurd. Just stay out of the bad areas, this is why nobody should have guns, need to ban guns everywhere, etc.

I bet most of the illegal guns used in these crimes can be traced back to Fast and Furious.

That's a pretty good explanation from you on why you don't understand the issue.

The data are never just the data, especially when they're curated and manipulated by a liar.

If the Second Amendment is absolute, how could ANY gun be an "illegal gun?"

Good point, it shouldn't (assuming the person in question is a citizen). If the Constitution is designed to protect the rights of its citizenry from overreach by the government, then the general public should have the right to protect themselves from said overreach. If a criminal has served their time, they should receive the same protections upon release.

Yep, SCOTUS says hello. Have you heard of the BRUEN decision? New precedent for all of the unconstitutional decisions handed down from the gooooooooooooooobies and administrative agencies.

The Founders knew, even Plato said democracy always decays into tyranny. Hence, our Constitutional Republic. So safeguards were put in place to slow things down, to prevent people from getting carried away by their passions.

"Thus, your right to be alive, to think as you wish, to say what you think, to publish what you say, to worship or not, to associate or not, to shake your fist in the tyrant's face by petitioning the government, your right to defend yourself and repel tyrants using and carrying the same weapons as the government does, your right to be left alone, to own property, to travel or to stay put — these natural aspects of human existence are natural rights that come from our humanity and for the exercise of which all rational persons yearn."

Please Take Your Rights Seriously

It should make sense to anyone if you want less guns involved in crime, make sure anyone not in prison or jail or adjudged absolutely crazy, is able to carry a gun if they wish.
Are the countries with the least amount of guns involved in crimes the same countries with the most amount of people carrying guns?

How about: Do the countries with the most severe punishments for crime have lower criminal rates than those with lenient penalties for crime?

Then ask: Why are so many acts of gun violence found in areas with strict gun laws or "gun free" zones.

Don't know the answer to this, but what I do know is that every country with strict gun laws is not a tyranny, but every tyranny has had strict gun control laws. You either believe in the right to protect yourself and your family or you believe the government should do it for you. If you are the latter, don't be surprised if the government starts protecting you from a lot of other things as well.

The data are always just the data. What you're complaining about is something gun-grabbers are guilty of doing, yet you have no problem citing those studies.

You're this fictionalized version of "Lott," with a different agenda.

Webster, Azrael, Hemmennway, Anestis, Kellermann...all discredited "researchers" that refuse to publish their data yet Lott has always made his data public. Nobody has yet to make an honest, mathematically sound critique of Lott's work, though gun-control loons have made it a cottage industry to discredit him. Intellectual lightweights like you are a dime a dozen.

What kind of question is that? Do you walk to school or carry your lunch?

Are the countries with the least amount of cars involved in accidents the same countries with the most amount of cars?

Give me your question in English, and I can at least attempt to answer it. Does the number of crimes thwarted by people carrying guns work into the equation somewhere?
