The JFK is sailing now. It’s basically having to prove itself out before the Navy takes possession of it in March next year the last I read. The USS Nimitz will be decommissioned at that point. Once the Navy takes possession it will still take a year or two for it to be put into the fleet and fully operational.

This is the media trying to create a narrative. Sailors belong on ships, ships belong at sea.
ETA: I've done multiple deployments on aircraft carriers that were at sea for longer than 120 days at a time without hitting port. Drink your two beers at the steel beach picnic, stfu and count your tax-free money when you get back to home port.

Threads like these are good for flushing out the low lives who revel in the perceived suffering of the US military. Fortunately the story is complete bullshite.
Aggies and bunk. Front and center

Didn’t see a thread on this on pg 1. Has this been discussed?
The only thing to discuss is how you’re too dimwitted and gullible to not recognize an obvious propaganda campaign when you see one.

found that nobody wanted to resign when it was time to get out. The were losing a lot of not just crew but pilots
The math doesn't work here

We can’t operate more than 11 because we don’t have the infrastructure or the money to build them. With every carrier built it has to have escort ships to escort it and then all the planes and crew. We just simply can’t afford to build more.
In ten years, surface ships will be regarded in the same light as fixed fortifications. Totally obsolete and ineffective.

Not really. They’ve been breaking records with these carrier deployments.
Yeah, but this has been going on for decades. NOW we're concerned about it?

People are on the space station for longer, but I bet that does suck.

Sounds like there are Senators calling for an inquiry
OMG who are they? Senators NEVER EVER call hearings to grandstand.
The need to rush to believe UK news stories about our Navy is sad.

Record long deployment.
Didn't the Ford just do like 11 months? The Lincoln is only 9 months right now.

Continuous days at sea. Sounds like 200 days since it has docked.

How about Military Times, Navy Times, and Stars and Stripes? I know, I know, all bad news is fake.

My brother was on the Nimitz. Their regular deployment was 6 months on and 6 months off. That was in the 80s. That is just part of it.
