Yeah, food delivery to your door if you don’t have a MAGA sign in your yard. Tear it down and reboot with honest management. Investigate, expose and prosecute those who grifted off the poor.

I would bet my house that no more than 10 total regular poli board posters gives to charity.

I can anticipate your response: “people give because they want to, that’s why we don’t need government to provide charity.” Except the government wouldn’t be providing charity if citizens were already taking care of each other.

Nearly 100 homeless people died on the streets of New Orleans last year.

Keep telling yourself that. I’m sure you convince yourself that you donate to charity because you pay taxes.

Yes there is a bid process and our local food bank had the same worries about the funding cuts a couple weeks ago.

Why wouldn’t they? Anyone is allowed to use them.

Sure, anyone is allowed to use them.

I don’t, because I have pride, a work ethic, and I don’t have a legitimate need.

Some people will gladly tote off bags of dog turds if you slap a “free, take all you want” sign on it.

How often do you frequent the food bank picking up your free cans of beans? Twice a week? More?

You remind me of the loser who admitted several months ago to taking free groceries from his kids’ elementary school even though he didn’t need them.

The people of NC need to ask themselves why their food banks need federal assistance in order to operate.

Because NC doesn’t grow everything that a food bank will distribute. That’s where the bid process comes in and lowers the cost the feds pay to feed the locals. NC by itself doesn’t have the same purchasing power and would pay more for the same product(s).

Every single thing the government pays for is funded the same way. What makes SS special? Oh because it’s supppsed to benefit regular people? And that’s different from food banks how?

There was a thread on the OT about tithing to one's church. Many posters mentioned giving up to 10% of their income. There is crossover between the boards. And yes, many of those donations go to feeding the poor.

You anticipated incorrectly.

This is absolutely incorrect. The go

vernment would give regardless because politicians like buying votes and can spruce up those charitable gifts. Instead of basics they get to provide money for junk food and less than necessary food stuffs. They also like funding NPOs like the one mentioned in the OP.

The interstate system never should have happened. It already exists now. We aren't going to be tearing it all up tomorrow.

I agree with you 100%, but since it is here, I could argue that maintaining a network of navigable highways across the nation is critical to our common defense as well. But I’d still argue that benefit doesn’t outweigh the negative impacts of the interstate system.

This isn't why. The government is not a solution.

I can see the sense in this, but the federal government should be able to serve this function simply by controlling borders/access.
