College campuses are generally located on a few squares miles surrounded by Reality.
The word "field" has no racist connotations whatsoever...until leftist, often in the absurd world of academia, assign a "racist" connotation to it. And it is because THEY see "field work" as inferior, even though they would never admit it, not the rest of the sane world living in reality who doesn't care about this...at all!
-- Ted Kaczynski
The man probably should have been put to death for what he did to innocent people with whom he disagreed. But he is 100% accurate in his analysis of leftism and leftist.

quote:
When someone interprets as derogatory almost anything that is said about him (or about groups with whom he identifies) we conclude that he has inferiority feelings or low self-esteem. This tendency is pronounced among minority rights activists, whether or not they belong to the minority groups whose rights they defend. They are hypersensitive about the words used to designate minorities and about anything that is said concerning minorities. The terms “negro,” “oriental,” “handicapped” or “chick” for an African, an Asian, a disabled person or a woman originally had no derogatory connotation. “Broad” and “chick” were merely the feminine equivalents of “guy,” “dude” or “fellow.” The negative connotations have been attached to these terms by the activists themselves. Some animal rights activists have gone so far as to reject the word “pet” and insist on its replacement by “animal companion.” Leftish anthropologists go to great lengths to avoid saying anything about primitive peoples that could conceivably be interpreted as negative. They want to replace the world “primitive” by “nonliterate.” They seem almost paranoid about anything that might suggest that any primitive culture is inferior to our own. (We do not mean to imply that primitive cultures ARE inferior to ours. We merely point out the hypersensitivity of leftish anthropologists.)
Those who are most sensitive about “politically incorrect” terminology are not the average black ghetto- dweller, Asian immigrant, abused woman or disabled person, but a minority of activists, many of whom do not even belong to any “oppressed” group but come from privileged strata of society. Political correctness has its stronghold among university professors, who have secure employment with comfortable salaries, and the majority of whom are heterosexual white males from middle- to upper-middle-class families.
Many leftists have an intense identification with the problems of groups that have an image of being weak (women), defeated (American Indians), repellent (homosexuals) or otherwise inferior. The leftists themselves feel that these groups are inferior. They would never admit to themselves that they have such feelings, but it is precisely because they do see these groups as inferior that they identify with their problems. (We do not mean to suggest that women, Indians, etc. ARE inferior; we are only making a point about leftist psychology.)

MLB in response has issued the following statement:
We apologize for our past indiscretions. MLB will move quickly to make amends.
No longer will we designate players to the infield or to the outfield. There will now be inpractica and outpractica. No longer will our players have to worry about being a slave to their position.
The infield fly rule will remain unchanged; however, it will now be called the inpracticum fly rule.
MLB has already thought ahead and the infield shift had already been outlawed. Only two practica are allowed on each side of second base.
The infield tarp will be replaced by the practicum tarp. Pregame infield will now be pregame inpracticum.
MLB is currently in talks to do more to ease the burden on our minority players. The annual game in Iowa at the Field of Dreams will no longer be held unless the venue is renamed the Practicum of Dreams.
Our diversity committee is looking at such terms as “whip” it around the infield, flashing the leather, “catcher”, squeeze play and caught stealing to see if that language is divisive.
Again, we are sorry for our past transgressions. We promise that in the future any such transgressions will be quickly addressed.

Oy shite…..”field hand”
They about to outlaw the word “hand” and maybe the actual hands attached to bodies themselves. They hadn’t thought that one through, I can assure you. But they gonna do it anyway. What the hell do you do with no hands??

This is what happens when people have too much time on their hands.

This word you embrace, Practicum, has orgins in Roman history. Rome had more frickin' slaves than you can count, they were, if anything, equal opportunity enslavers.
So, A--holes, chose another word because that petard on which the Woke are hoisted, that petard is coming for you.

Hoist with his own petard" is a phrase from a speech in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet that has become proverbial. The phrase's meaning is that a bomb-maker is blown ("hoist") off the ground by his own bomb (a "petard" is a small explosive device), and indicates an ironic reversal, or poetic justice.
