I just spoke with my friend in the Department of War and he says it is extremely unlikey that the Marines have fired into the crowds - much more likeley it was local Pakisani security who fired.

Without doubt, more graduates of Saudi financed Madrassas in Pakistan.
For all the talk about Iranian sponsored terrorism, Saudi Arabia’s support of Madrassas that promote global Wahhabism — a militant strain of Sunni Islam — Saudi Arabia has been one of the largest state sponsors of terrorist funding worldwide for decades.
This is just another example of why it is insane is for the United States to continue to pick sides amongst these medieval death cults.

In the video in the OP is legit and from the consulate then it looks like the attackers had breached the outer level of security that local security would be responsible and were under the walls attempting to breach the actual building so it’s more likely that the Marines had to engage.

The Marines could use sound to make those muslims retreat. That is, if they have that tech with them in the consulate.
