President Donald Trump said Thursday that a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz has not yet been finalized, though he indicated negotiations with Iran are continuing and an agreement could come in the near future.

Asked by a reporter during an Oval Office event whether a deal had been reached, Trump stopped short of declaring a breakthrough.

"Well, I don't want to say it has been," Trump said. "It's sort of open right now."

Trump said the U.S. Navy continues to enforce the blockade around Iran, arguing that military control of the waterway has helped stabilize the situation. At the same time, he cautioned that shipping risks remain because Iran could still deploy naval mines or carry out attacks that would discourage commercial traffic.

"They can always shoot something," Trump said. "They always have something or drop a mine. And if you have one mine sitting out there, you sort of mess things up because people don't want to take their billion-dollar boats and accidentally get hit by a mine."

Despite those concerns, Trump expressed confidence that negotiations are progressing.

"I think we're doing very well," he said. "I'm involved in the negotiation. I think we're doing fine. It could be. It could be soon."

Is Trump referring to the deal between Iran and Oman? That deal opens the strait with each country charging tolls within its agreed upon waterway established by coordinates, Is Trump manipulating the stock market again with a misleading statement?

The speaker of Iran's Parliament is mocking President Trump's familiar routine of promising major strikes and then calling them off in favor of talks.

"'Massive attack coming… wait, never mind, they want to negotiate.' That's theater diplomacy on loop," Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on X.

He also accused the U.S. of "bullying [and] broken promises."

"Acknowledge the facts and fulfill your commitments. We don't need more theater," he said.

Seriously, If this ends with Iran getting to collect tolls on shipping going through the SOH, is that #winning?

Iran media reported that part of their proposal was that the US and Israel coulnd't use the straight. That was immediately shot down.

12D, Tron style chess going on from Trump.... Trust us guys, you'll love the deal to go along with your high gas prices

If the price of gas was $2.50 because of tolls, would it matter?

Cutting the head off the snake and then constantly talking about how you're going to make a deal with the headless snake is certainly a strategy.

Which makes you think, if 10 terrorist groups show they can sink ships, do we need to make a deal with all of them?
