I’ve said it before but, as part of the penalties we should impose upon China for their handling of COVID, we should seize all tangible assets in the US that are owned by Chinese entities.
Since we’ve had it reiterated yet again that US ownership of capital assets in China is faux ownership, this path makes even more sense now.
China needs to pay for the damage they’ve done, we need to level the economic playing field, and critical capabilities must not be dependent on foreign control.

At this point, forcing them to choose wisely may be necessary. IBChinaman is still wandering around here preaching his garbage.

trump needs to impose 900% tariffs on all manufactured goods from china as soon as this is over
you want to keep your factories in china, you profits are reduced by 900%

They're not "finding out" - they always knew this was the case. They were willing to do it because the balance sheet and stockholders pushed them to do it.
They're admitting it, now, not "finding out."
Maybe this will wake the U.S. up. But, I'm not betting the house on it.
The worship of money will, unfortunately, never end.
Hopefully this event will subdue it for a while.

You could use country of origin tariffs to discourage greedy corporations from outsourcing... You would have to peg the other country 's median income to ours to get a rate.
Last time I did the math I think it was either 1800% or 2200% for all goods or services of Chinese origin.

U.S. companies are finding out they don't own their own factories in China. When they tried to export THEIR medical equipment, the Chinese government stopped them:
Pretty sure these companies knew they did not really own the factories. I don’t their lawyers would let something like that slip through. They know at the onset that China owns the factory.

this is hypocritical
It's not hypocritical at all.
They made their bed, and the 3M situation is completely different. In China, those facilities are taken by the government and the company gets nothing in return. In America, the jobs and revenue stay, but the product changes.
The problem is people like you don't actually know how any of this works, but you still want to voice your opinion
Any company head with any sense would immediately cancel doing business in China.

It's like they weren't paying attention to what happened to other companies in Venezuela...

No love for China but those companies deserve to have their factory's stolen for selling out the American worker.

Agreed. Part of the price of doing business in China was/is being forced to "partner" with a Chinese business (which means their government, in practice if not in fact) and "sharing" your IP, etc.

These companies will end up losing money dealing with China. They're better off cutting their losses and moving on money be damned because the Chinese won't give them a clean break otherwise.

Country of Origin? Please define the term.
Smithfield farms division of WH Group (China) is just one of the many food entities in the U.S. owned by China. Smithfield grows and slaughters hogs in the U.S., then proceeds to cut them into 3 piece carcasses and ships them to China for further processing.
After processing in questionable sanitation in China, they can be, and are being shipped back to the American consumer labeled as "Grown in the USA". WH Group Labels

Just pass another fee down to the American people, we will just whine a bit, pay it and vote you back in office for 30years.
Tariffs were the main source of all Federal revenue from 1790 to 1914. At the end of the American Civil War in 1865 about 63% of Federal income was generated by the excise taxes, which exceeded the 25.4% generated by tariffs. In 1915 during World War I tariffs generated only 30.1% of revenues. Since 1935 tariff income has continued to be a declining percentage of Federal tax income."
