Every time the Kurds have been used they are soon left to fend for themselves. They are a very small but deadly group

Quit trying to sound like you know anything about the actual military. Hundreds of GB's? Like tabbed ODA guys? lol. That would be at least 20 ODA's, a freaking battalion. Higher than peak GWOT deployment.

You’re right. Some of the load will be shared by SEALs and Marine Raiders. So probably not 20 ODAs.

Don’t worry. Turkey is next in line after Iran.

It’s gone tits up for the Kurds every single time, too.

Have the Kurds won a war since Saladin?

Freedom? They get a raw deal in Iran and Iraq.

I would expect they would require more than that, but I agree that might be on the list.

BREAKING: CNN confirms Kurdish opposition forces are preparing to move into western Iran as part of a “ground operation” — as early as tomorrow.

President Trump spoke directly to one of their leaders today.

CNN chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward, reporting from Iraq, says the intel came directly from a senior Kurdish politician.

WARD: “We spent some time this evening with a senior Iranian-Kurdish politician here in Iraqi Kurdistan, who basically told us that he the expectation among Kurdish-Iranian opposition forces is that they will be going into western Iran as part of some kind of a ground operation over the course or at some point during the next few days…”

“That they will have support from the US and from Israel, though he would not be drawn as to what exactly that support will look like.”

“He also told us that President Trump himself had called the leader of the KDPI, which is one of these Iranian-Kurdish opposition parties, today and that they had what he categorized as or characterized I should say, as a positive conversation.”

“Though again, he did not give any details.”

“And he said that we should be prepared for some surprises, potentially tomorrow.”

“Again, not giving details, but this is all coming at the same time as our colleagues…are learning that the CIA has been working to arm Iranian-Kurdish opposition forces with the goal of fomenting civil unrest in Iran.”

So we will be fighting the Kurds in about 20 years? Granted we have a relationship with them. The Kurds helped us fight ISIS. Who knows though. It always seems like we end up fighting the people that we help train. Hope I am wrong.

What happens if they are successful? Will they just give Iran back to the West?

If they succeed, we will give them their own state in northwest Iran.

The Kurds won’t have air superiority in Iran

This is a great idea, high success rate. Look at Afghanistan, for instance. The neocon in chief used the Northern Alliance as a proxy against the Taliban.

It worked so well that we really never left and when we did the Taliban was surging into Kabul.

I remember a preacher saying during biblical days the Kurds were the world’s most feared fighters. Don’t know if he was correct

There are a lot of ethnic Turks in Iran and surrounding countries that hate the Mullahs.

I don't think I totally agree. My information may be out of date, and while they do not have their own state, they have a semi autonomous zone in Iraq. Prior to ISIL, I even saw mainstream travel magazines promoting travel to Erbil as they were allegedly administering the area well.

So while they haven't gotten what they really want, I don't think they've gotten zero either.
