Then why not just ban bluesky? Or “age restrict it?
The Bluesky thing was debunked days ago. This rumor started because Australia didn't ban Bluesky with their legislation that England is now copying, but there's been no confirmation that Bluesky is being left off the list in England.
For what it's worth, Bluesky banned itself for kids under 16 in Australia even though they were left off their banned list. So they did the right thing anyway, and I would imagine they'd do the same in England if they're left off the banned list.
I hate sticking up for those pinko commie figs on that platform, but this thread is full of people running with an Internet rumor that's been debunked

The problem is that they’re allowing kids to go onto Blue Sky

The problem is that they're issuing this ban as a means of enacting greater surveillance over their people by requiring digital ID to access social media. They're crouching their bullshite behind something that, on the face of it, doesn't look like a terrible idea. It's a Trojan horse.

If it’s all banned, I feel better about it. I don’t trust these retards at all and especially not the British government atm.
I still think it’s going too far age restricting this stuff outright. It’s not porn. It’s just speech. I think we need to teach kids ourselves and not get too involved government wise. It’s a fine line.
But the risk is very high for government tampering with political communication. It’s a tough thing to fully get behind.

What is the problem with using govt. ids to validate age?

I couldn’t care less about blue sky.
Isn’t this already age restricted anyway?

It’s age restricted at 13 like twitch.
Posted on 6/15/26 at 12:21 pm to DustInTheWind
Do you know how they accomplish this age restriction?
Posted on 6/15/26 at 12:21 pm to AGGIES
I know with Twitch they don’t use anything. You just have to say you’re over 13 lol
They’re talking about taking this a big step further with using IDs
My understanding is that blue sky has an age restriction, but no verification atm

Actually not a bad idea. Social media is poison to young people. I don't think a ban would be possible in the USA but we need one.

Exactly. It starts out with “We must protect the children!”
It always starts off like this. I’m just saying, don’t trust these idiots. Has anyone looked at England lately? There are people already being charged with crimes for making posts. This just lets them in the door.

I was on BS, right up until the vicious spittle flew upon CKs death. It was so prevalent, so unhinged, and so evil that I left. Yes, the comments were the problem, but the pride of display took me aback. I learned of a new level of humanity. Scary shite right here at home.

By claiming their interest was children's well-being, they found a way to force adults to verify their accounts so the govt could then target anyone who dared speak out online in a manner that wasn't approved by the powers that be

Having a ban is not the problem. The problem is that they’re allowing kids to go onto Blue Sky (an X like far left platform). It’s clearly an attempt to control the political narrative with children. That’s a major issue.

Why not to vote?
You are on boarding folks with this concern approach.

Oddly, this may save them from leftist propaganda.
