i think you are dead on. Imagine a kid like this 30 years ago. Weird AF, socially awkward, with some dark arse ideas. He'd be a loner. No one would affirm his crazy and he would eventually mature enough to be somewhat functional in adulthood.
Today, those same kids can go online and find a community that's so off the rails, they actually feel like the normy. They get affirmation, and they get pulled deeper into the crazysphere. They also now on medications with suicidal and violent impulses as a side affect, and have parents who refuse to acknowledge any problems and shelter them too long. Politicians telling them that the guy across the street with the Trump sign is a Nazi who wants to kill 20MM poor brown people by cutting USAID.
What could go wrong?

Unless Kirk’s widow pleads for a life sentence, I fully expect this to be a death penalty case with no plea bargain offered. Utah has the firing squad. That would be Justice.

This is one of the bigger issues Charlie openly admits to changing his stance. He used to be very anti-death penalty, but recently says he is now all for it.

Another crazy part about some of these shooters I've just thought about is the influence of "internet culture" on these people. This guy wrote messages on the cartridges. The MN granny shooter wrote all kinds of shite on the guns. Same with the Buffalo supermarket and New Zealand mosque shooters.
They are trying to turn their weapons/means of killing into the memes they see every single day in whatever echo chamber corner of the internet they like to hang out in.

Well said. I have to take breaks from the internet because it can become unhealthy quickly. I think the amount of time spent on the internet should be talked about the same way as obesity, drug abuse etc. it’s not good for our society to live on the internet. And I say that realizing my entire post is filled with irony. I am addict myself.
