I had it all the time as a teen and in my early 20s. Not so much anymore but every once in a while. I’m so used to it that I know what’s going on and can shake myself out of it pretty easily. I saw a demonic figure one time during it. Probably just a mind distortion but who knows.

It happens or something unexplained happens.
I've experienced four fingers claw marks on my back when I was younger and just assumed I scratched the hell out of myself in my sleep. Only problem was I couldn't replicate it while awake.... Hand wouldn't reach back there....happened over awhile and then disappeared....
Like Sleep paralysis which is far more common than people think. Check out the movie The Nightmare.
Not everything can be easily explained.
