You have it kinda backwards. It's not the heavily populated areas that the black vote will make a difference. It's the smaller cities where 20% of black voters changing course can actually make a difference.

This will be multifaceted. Black turnout may be down a few points from '16, and then Trump may grab a higher % of the '20 black turnout.
Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it. I think Trump may get a few points more support amongst black men than in '16. I am much more convinced that Trump is doing much better amongst Hispanics than in '16, probably by 5-10 points.

he had 8 last time. pollig shows double digits easily some 16% and higher. hispanic polls are higher. whites who did not vote for trump last time are. he will get more votes in all major 3 demographics. if he gets 15% of blacks

I take many cues from the Democrats themselves, and their very desperate pandering to blacks recently tells me all I need to know. Oh and in that same timeframe they pretty much abandoned Hispanics.

16% would be double four years ago. He is polling well with Latinos too. The only demographic he has lost support with is white women which is kind of shocking considering all the riots and defund the police talk from the left.

Pew's 3,000+ person exit poll showed 6% which indicates a shy Trump vote, so that's good.
If Trump get's 10 percent, he's good to go.

I've said this on here before, I live and work in a diverse area in Tuscaloosa County. The number of black people that support Trump blows my mind. The democrats are going to be shocked when they see how many of their sheep are sheep no more.
