Again, the local Portland ANTIFA Commander is not "very smart", nor is he someone you should trust.

No, it's the same Marco and Donald Trump that did what every single President said they were going to do but NEVER did because they were too big of pussies and only worried about getting re-elected.. Yea, that same Marco

So what ya gotta' say about that? Your past Presidents and politicians demanded that Iran can never have a nuclear bomb.

I figured you'd conveniently ignore that little unfortunate bit about Marco.

He really doesn’t have a plan and that’s pretty scary against an adversary that clearly has nothing to lose anymore.
What if his plan is to show no matter what America doesn’t need the oil that goes through the straight and the countries that need it are pussies? They won’t do anything to get it.

Nope.. Not ignoring shite. Donald Trump has said ON RECORD since 1987 that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. Trump told Marco to go take care of that which he is doing.

By the way.. do you know how much oil the United States gets out of the Hormuz Strait?

ZERO, NATA, ZILCH.

Do you think it’s favorable that we fricked it up for every single other nation and just walked away?

This guy is thinking rationally. We don't NEED the oil that passes through the strait, the rest of the world does. We produce enough to be independent and then some.

We produce the oil to be independent, BUT 2 things are in the way:

1. Oil is a global commodity, are we going to turn anti-capitalist and not allow sales of our domestic oil on the global market?

2. This one is even bigger. Are the oil companies going to spend the time and CAPEX to reconfigure refineries to use US light sweet crude? In the long run it is probably a good idea, but the economics still don't favor that solution.

Plus, your whole premise is based on a fiction. The issue with gasoline and diesel is that they are inelastic goods. Small changes in supply or demand have outsized impacts on price of inelastic goods. Since crude is a global commodity, it doesn't take much constraint on supply to produce a large change at the pump.

I am all for the attacks on Iran if the administration's thought process is valid but I reserve the right to withdraw my support as the real process becomes more transparent, which may be well after the gun barrels have cooled. I have lived through over 50 years of lack of transparency and the words coming from this administration don't give me any more solace than those of past administrations.

Are you serious?

So the democrats track record on “knowing what to do” when it comes to war or saving troops lives is so much better? Do you try and purposefully memory hole Somalia under Clinton, Syria and Benghazi under Obama or Bagram Airbase under Biden? Where do you think the money came from for the missiles being used on the Hormuz Straight? I’m sure they spent that pallet of cash on humanitarian aid huh?
The left can’t even run a major city without turning it in to a war zone. Democrats have killed far more Americans inside its out borders, due to their awful policies on the border, cashless bail, rioting, sanctuary cities and midnight basketball programs. But hey, the dems know exactly what they’re doing so just keep voting for chaos and destruction inside our own country because gas hit $3.50/gal again, like under Biden.

By the way, did you know oil is a commodity?

Disrupting supply in a major way anywhere will raise the price of oil for everyone in the world who buys it on the market.

Dude, oil is a global commodity in a global market. Iran having control of the Strait would be a problem in terms of energy prices and their ability to influence those price. It doesn’t matter that we don’t get oil through the Strait. The price of the oil that we do get is heavily influenced by the oil that does pass through the Strait.

Which means the price of almost everything is influenced by the oil that goes through there.

People who are pissed that we might leave without reopening the strait….what is your plan? How can we reopen it?

At this point it seems clear that it would take a full on ground war with an uncertain outcome.

Maybe there's an outcome where some of the rest of the world says "frick it, we're not dealing with these unstable terrorists anymore" and are driven into our arms instead. Win/win

Maybe the rest of the world asks "wtf was this all about"? Why would any country that has been negatively affected by this war, esp due to the cost and instability of crude want to join our side after we caused them pain?

Or the story is a bit imprecise because it’s MSM of course. Or even if true it could be pure 8D chess to scare the “friends “ of America in Europe to act on behalf of their economic interests and participate in the Strait.
