Five pages on anonymous officials?

Some of you are desperate for Trump to take a loss at something.

Or the story is a bit imprecise because it’s MSM of course. Or even if true it could be pure 8D chess to scare the “friends “ of America in Europe to act on behalf of their economic interests and participate in the Strait.

This is all market manipulation. The uncertainty and mixed messaging is intentional and have kept things from spiraling.

I am curious how long they can keep this up before the markets stop reacting to every message coming out of Washington.

Stopped reading there...... its propaganda or else WSJ would name sources "on the matter ".

It could be a trial balloon or it could be a bluff until we get the MEUs into place to do what they are going to do. But, the messaging on this conflict has been crazy. To borrow from a piece I saw today.
quote:

We’re both bombing and not bombing, winning and not winning, Iran’s defeated but also still fighting, we’re talking to them both directly and indirectly, the Strait is both open and not open, Iran is both weak and strong, their regime both dead and alive…

Add another goal to the "art of the deal" vague list: either destroying NATO or making NATO spend more on the military (it's not well-formed, I must admit).

Oh yeah, and figure out how the US can import oil that isn't set by the worldwide commodity market. A lot of arguments ITT rely on this trick.

All you had to do was look at who the OP was to know it wasn't going to be a verified story about anything. Classic LCD catering by the MSM.

When a publication that is known to be hostile towards the administration begins an article with "citing officials with knowledge on the matter", color me skeptical

Did you even read the story? Also, Trump just told our allies this morning that they should “go get their own oil”.

To keep our economy going?

We don't produce enough of the type of oil that we need for our refineries. We have to import 6-8M barrels per day to keep things going.

Perhaps.
But then again, Hormuz is not of particular strategic interest to the United States, certainly not relative to comparable interests of China and the EU.

Our EU "allies" did not want to help us in our effort. Now that we have achieved what we needed to with regard to our strategic interests, let the EU try to take care of itself.

So "this" time they aren't lying with their unnamed sources?

No thanks. Maybe you and your buddies will get lucky and have some troops die today. That will give you something to celebrate and start more negative threads about.
