And this is why I said Trump fricked up listening to Bessent and his Wall Street Buddies. This was their plan, slow walk the Tariffs get them tied up in the courts and wait Trump out. They are doing the same fricking thing with the Ukraine situation, wait Trump out and force him to eventually own the War and tell him Ukraine needs more money or he will get the blame.

International trade court
Its not one of those fake courts like the international criminal court. It's an actual US court that Congress established under article 3. They absolutely had legitimate jurisdiction on this.
It'll work its way to to SCOTUS like every other case. I haven't looked at thiss case so I don't know the basis for this order, but I assume it is bullshite and will get an immediate review.

So this court gets to set trade policy for the US and dictate trade terms and conduct foreign policy and whose authority surpasses that of the US president?

It depends if someone sued over those tariffs previously.
A court can't create a case.
I'd be interested if anyone did file suit in those prior years and how this was differentiated from that case, if it exists.

The international kangaroo court forgot about that part
Nah. Looks like they understand the constitution. If you want higher tariffs, tell Congress to do their job and get it done.

My understanding is those tariffs (for now) are still valid. Like the ones on China have more justification (natl security).
But the 10% sweeping tariff across the board was always on super shaky legal grounds.

Did you just suggest the Executive Branch could/should/would disband an Article 3 court?

Here's the CBS News write up about it:
quote:
A federal court on Wednesday froze many of the large-scale tariffs imposed by President Trump on virtually every foreign nation, ruling the levies exceed the president's legal authority.
The ruling — issued by a panel of judges on the U.S. Court of International Trade — focused on the sweeping 10% tariffs the president assessed on virtually every U.S. trading partner last month, with higher tariffs threatened for dozens of countries.
The court said the economic emergency powers law cited by Mr. Trump during his April rollout of the global tariffs — dubbed "Liberation Day" — didn't give him the power to impose tariffs. The judges also said it would be unconstitutional for a law to give the president blanket authority to set tariffs.
CBS News has reached out to the White House for comment.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
