A large majority of people in this country don't understand our tax laws. This isn't a crazy statement to make.

You can’t imagine an executive order/policy that he could be positioned to profit off tremendously? A man of his resources?

Look, I’m not saying he is. I think this is a dead end for Dems, and I’m a Dem. But the possibility of abuse/corruption is very real. I don’t think it’d be that hard if he actually wanted to..

Yes, but how would his tax returns from before he took office show corruption while in office?

CPAs are watchdogs, not bloodhounds.

When did I say anything about tax returns before he was president?

I see no reason for him not to provide current financial information listing his holdings, etc. Folks should know that.

But people in this thread want his returns from back before he took office. That's what I was addressing.

And this is why he doesn’t want to expose his taxes. It’s a PR nightmare even though it’s legal and done by every business

That's almost certainly a major concern.

Probably he's legally exploited every tax loophole available and I don't blame him one bit for doing so. I'd do the same.

But the general public is easily fooled and Trump knows this quite well.

The funny thing is that so many people voted for him thinking he respected the average guy.

I can imagine a lot of things.

But what does that have to do with you accusing Trump of abuse of power regarding his tax returns? Specifically what Presidential power has he abused?

I think the average guy would take advantage of every loophole possible... but the spin would be insane from Dems and media even though it was all legal.

The average American is retarded about tax law

Because the average American is not a lawyer or CPA.

The average American hires people to file their taxes...when all they have to do is follow the instructions on the form - their tax issue is so basic...they own nothing, have a regular income and lead simple lives but pay to have it done.

Most people have to pay someone to do their own personal taxes with a simple W-2, so whats surprising about Trump saying people wouldn’t understand tax returns of a billionaire with real estate and business interests all around the world?

Libs are pretty dumb. I mean, they do believe in dozens of different genders. A trump tax return would probably blow their minds.

I’ll try to keep this simple there is a constitutional requirement to be a naturalized citizen to hold the office of president therefore the call to prove his right to hold the office seemed reasonable.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but there is no law requiring a president to release his taxes. Furthermore I can’t find from a google search a statutory requirement for any politician to follow through on campaign promises or I would not have the shitty Obamacare plan I have now instead of the one I liked and that actually provided me with real coverage.

ETA: if I found out the opposition party used a fake dossier to try and destroy me and the mainstream media was providing them cover and colluding with them to accomplish this goal I would tell them to go frick themselves if they wanted me to freely provide them any way to further their cause

Maybe Trump should request the Government create an agency or department that oversees all these Tax Returns and who job it is to make sure tax returns follow the law and if a law was broken they have the ability to issue consequences for said law breakage....

He’s not wrong. Most people couldn’t. Of course, that’s always been true. Professionals would be the ones pouring through the return and making any real observations.

I don’t disagree. I imagine the structure of his dealings is complicated and if he is frequently audited he probably doesn’t want multiple CPAs pouring over his returns to offer a different position than those taken by his advisors
