One, TPS is renewed by the executive branch, usually every 18 months (it can be 6 or 12 months also). There are about a dozen sets of people from various countries, some numbering in the 100s of thousands as someone has already posted.
Two, Trump is not actively booting them out, these groups are staggered time wise and when their renewals are coming up he is just instructing DHS not to renew.
Three, yes a judge did try and stop the Venezuelan group, I believe that has been, as usual, struck down by a superior court for....no standing (he he).
Fourth, this whole process has just been rubber stamped for decades, and a person on TPS has no avenue to citizenship (like cubans do). They have to go through the process as any normal person wanting to become a citizen: get a sponsor, get a green card, etc. A long process and why bother because you can be booted long before its complete, so they just drift from renewal to renewal, consider...
Fifth, we have TPS, thats TEMPORARY protection status, for Liberians from....1991, nearly 35 fking years. These people literally have anchor grandbabies now. Its a mess, and now when Trump is cleaning it up, as usual he is the bad guy.
