He's getting people on record of what they stand for.

So the bills still go into law anyways? Talk about a beta position for Trump to take. If he wanted to affect things then he would threaten to veto every bill that is passed until the SAVE Act passes.

Why are you assuming he won't veto it?

If it is veto-proof, then you complaining about Trump not vetoing it is as pointless as Trump refusing to sign it.

This isn't a hill at all. It's just something for people to needlessly complain about.

Going to pocket veto it. Hmmm. Bold strategy.

I must have missed my civics classes as well. I thought that was called a "Pocket Veto" when the president doesn't sign in 10 days.

No its not a stupid hill. This is about leverage.

There is no leverage gained by not signing the bill. It goes into law unless he vetos it.

I think you've missed the point of this particular bill and its passing through anyway as OP stated. Pick a Better Hill.

Explain to us the positive effect it will have on the average American Taxpayer.

Trump said many weeks ago that he would not sign anything until the SAVE America Act was signed furst.

Congress has wasted time by focusing on the wrong thing.

BTW What is in this housing bill that you seem desperate about?

This is what google says.

quote:

The 10-Day Rule: Under Article I, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution, the president has 10 days (excluding Sundays) to sign or veto any legislation passed by Congress.Active Congress: If Congress is still in session and the president fails to sign a bill within 10 days, it automatically becomes law without a signature.Adjournment: If Congress adjourns during those 10 days, the president cannot physically return the bill to the originating chamber. The president's inaction effectively "pockets" the bill, and it dies

Since Congress holds pro forma sessions and does not officially go into recess even on its breaks Congress is technically still in session so the bill still goes into law.

It passed with veto-proof majorities in both houses.

Because neither Trump or anyone from his inner circle have mentioned vetoing the bill.

Meh, pick them all, some of you would bitch because he didn't take a stand at all. Need to start somewhere so why not one with bipartisan support?

It it passed with a veto-proof majority, then doesn’t that mean veto is off the table?

The signing of it is just theater, or lack thereof…

Like I said earlier, I do not know shite about the bill. I am saying that Trump is picking a stupid strategy. Instead of just not signing bills then he should veto them.

FISA is what he needs to hold strong on for the SAVE Act

I disagree.

I know his hands are tied and he needs leverage, but any true conservative President representing their base should be 100% pro-SAVE and 100% anti-FISA.

But just watch. These are the two biggest topics to help the Establishment Uniparty maintain power and control, so we'll get FISA extended and SAVE will be swept away. We'll not get a bittersweet result. It will just be bitter.

Not sure this bill is about, but if Marxist Dems and Republicans agree to it, it can't be anything good for we the people.
