Trump picks a stupid hill to fight for the SAVE AMERICA Act on.

I love Trump and desperately want the SAVE Act to pass but this is just a stupid stance. If Trump refuses to sign it then it still becomes law in 10 days (excluding Sunday) and it passed with veto proof majorities in both houses. Getting egg on OMB's face is not going to help pass the SAVE AMERICA.

There was an article in the WSJ today on the final version of that bill. There’s honestly not much to it that will positively affect housing.

He's not signing a single bill until the save act is passed . It's not just going to be this one

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., laughed when reporters asked him about Trump canceling the signing. “I just heard that. … I guess I would say at this point I don’t have any observations about that,” he said.

I think you've missed the point of this particular bill and its passing through anyway as OP stated. Pick a Better Hill.

DC critters are bragging up this bill. A Trump EO could may have already removed red tape of home building and purchases.

This bill probably lines their pockets. If no ID to vote and all non citizens can vote...who cares about the housing easements?

So the bills still go into law anyways? Talk about a beta position for Trump to take. If he wanted to affect things then he would threaten to veto every bill that is passed until the SAVE Act passes.

I wouldn't say he has egg on his face.

quote:

The housing bill was negotiated across the House and Senate by committee leaders in both parties: Sens. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Reps. French Hill, R-Ark., and Maxine Waters, D-Calif.

But Trump focused on Warren in his Truth Social post, calling it a “Warren centric housing bill” and again demanding that Republicans abolish the filibuster.

If it passed with veto proof majorities in this congress, you can bet it's only good for politicians. Especially with Warren and Waters pushing it.

Besides needing an ID for just about everything in this country, don't forget you need one to tour Obama's library....and be stupid enough to have to pay $30 for the privilege.

No wonder they all voted for it.

Every new Congress is worse than the one before. These people are petty thieves and scum of the Earth, yet they think they are better than us.

Many such cases. Most of these bills are just pork factories and grift machines. And whatever the are named, they do the exact opposite.

This is true under normal circumstances, but I work in an industry that would have been HEAVILY impacted by some of the EO's that he has already signed. One for the better, one for the worse. What we've seen is that the EO's are simply just press releases. There doesn't appear to be anyone actually writing implementation guidance or following up to see that the intent of the EO is actually carried out. Even when you point the relevant agencies to the EO's on the White House website, they rightly point out that its nothing more than a press release without implementation guidance from OMB.

It prevents large corporate entities and institutional investment firms from buying any more SFHs if they already own 350+, thus a cap for all such entities who gobble up property for rental purposes. That one line item is positive in myriad ways.

It bans SFR companies from buying homes that they haven’t been buying since interest rates spiked. SFR was moving to BTR anyway. And none of the SFR companies have to divest.

99% of homes aren’t owned by companies affected by this bill.

I do not know shite about the bill. However it is obvious that you baws have forgotten your civic classes. Bills go into law 10 days (excluding Sundays) after being passed by Congress unless the President vetos them.

No its not a stupid hill. This is about leverage. The Senate needs to get their asses together. This age of doing nothing is unacceptable. Thune needs to go period end of story.
