I love Trump and desperately want the SAVE Act to pass but this is just a stupid stance. If Trump refuses to sign it then it still becomes law in 10 days (excluding Sunday) and it passed with veto proof majorities in both houses. Getting egg on OMB's face is not going to help pass the SAVE AMERICA.

I think this is genius and if i were Trump, I would threaten to take it a step further and veto every bill that came across my desk. He has a winning issue in the SAVE Act. He needs to frame it in terms of “hey, these guys want to give illegals housing benefits before passing a bill to ensure free and fair elections.” By doing this, he’s just making Rinos look that much worse.

1) Dems would gladly accept these terms.

2) would likely crush midterm chances, which would make point #1 moot becuase they'd simply kill all of his policy themselves.

I disagree entirely. The Democrats’ only hope is cheating and election fraud. Their message is so bad, they cannot fairly win with it and they know it. I will say it again, Trump has a winning issue with the SAVE Act. That’s something that people can get behind, much unlike the Dems’ pushing for men to be women.

This is no different than what Democrats do every single time they have control of anything. The only difference is that their reps fall in line with the quickness. Too bad most of the Rs are actually Ds

He's not signing a single bill until the save act is passed . It's not just going to be this one

Trump will use this Housing Bill to set an example, and show that he will not sign the next one either.

Until only citizens can buy property and limits are slapped on black rock any housing bill is pointless

If you don't think Dems want to stop Trump from ever getting anymore of his agenda written into law, I really don't think you're paying nearly as much attention as you think you are.

Dems know they're not getting any of their policies across the finish line with minority control (w RARE exceptions like this housing bill that's a win for everyone) the next best thing is neutering the MAGA agenda.

If Trump really wants to volunteer to do it to himself, you think Dems are gonna stop him!?!?

Maybe he should choose a bill that's not going to get passed with a supermajority anyway. Might make for a better example....

Tillis is on a mission to go against any and all things Trump. The worst RINO that exists. He will *never* vote for Save America.

Yes, I get that. Dang near everyone is out to stop Trump’s agenda because they are bought and paid for or they just suck.

How is forcing the issue on a winner (the SAVE Act) going to neuter MAGA and hurt Trump though?

I learned a long time ago to not try to be logical with an illogical person. Very few things Trump does are well thought out. He’s reactive and skilled at making off the cuff responses and taking retaliatory responses, It’s the life cycle thing. When many of us are 2 we are oppositional and defiant. Most of us learn how to problem solves as we mature but some return to their childish ways. Trump acts like a spoiled 3 year old most of the time.

Trump's primary strategy worked. Now he has Cassidy, Cornyn, Tillis as well as McConnell and a few others as lame ducks with no other motivation other than to frick with Trump between now and January when new members are sworn in. Plus the new Congress would not be obliged to continue to consider bills brought up in the previous term.

When you play with professional politicians don't be surprised if they play politics.
