No my standard doesn’t preclude the private sector from serving because most people don’t have business arrangements with foreign heads of state. It doesn’t matter to me if the business arrangement was entered into before running or not, it still exists and could pose a conflict of interest. Does the arrangement mean the politician is corrupted or that it would cause any issues? No. But why even go down that path. There’s plenty of people in this country, politicians aren’t these Uber unique creature, simply avoid the potential conflict and go with someone else.

Read the article. They wanted Putin to have residence there so they could sell the other units at inflated prices to brown nosing oligarchs wanting to live in the same building as Putin.
