Didn't Reagan fire them all once?

Explain to me how this increases the risk of "one frick up." What does being a government employee do to stop a traffic controller from fricking up versus that controller being a privately paid employee, in your estimation?

Yep, they broke an oath not to strike.

I know, right? It's like the rest of the world never just loses an airliner or gets them shot down flying over a war zone or anything.

Says he's turning it over to the airlines. Airlines have wanted this for about 2 decades. Reason, private control of the business will be better at advancing technology than the slow moving government does.
Winning, again.
I like this move!
Though it should be pointed out that airlines begged the government to take this over to begin with. Corporate welfare and all that.

Man, honestly this scares the shite out of me. One frick up means hundreds of deaths.
Personally for me if radar has worked this well for so long, why screw it up?
My wifi goes out when a cat farts in it's general direction...one glitch can be really bad.

Not a huge fan of this on the surface - tons of risk to Trump if something goes wrong now.
But I need to see the details to form an opinion.

You cool with affirmative action controllers?
I'm not, I'd like the best, thanks.

Do we have a considerably lower rate than other countries?
Also, the flying over war zones thing has no merit in this discussion.

He should make food stamps the responsibility of the grocery stores too

I just worry about implementation frick ups and stuff. It could and should go off without a hitch, but ATC will always be one of my irrational fears

This mindset is why it's so hard to whittle down the reach of the federal government. It's good to see someone eschew it.
The notion that, well this is just "small potatoes" is sort of silly when you realize it's pretty much just a big bag of small potatoes.

Why not? I like businesses calling their own shots concerning their own business. I think of government controlled healthcare as a good example of why government shouldn't be dictating health care to me.
Airlines will still have to abide by government standards just like the railroads have to adhere to the FRA.

Is there any evidence that the Feds do a better job than Private does? Think VA; hell, they hire for reasons that have little to do with efficiency and more with social engineering and politics - because they are essentially UNACCOUNTABLE. Can't even fire the worst of criminals.
If Trump is successful into concurrently taking the Fed Regulatory bridle off the Companies and they are allowed to hire, fire and deliver only the best of service that their Consumers are willing to pay for...then it will be a great victory for all concerned.
The proof will be in the pudding. Shouldn't take long for the evidence to be manifest.

I suppose its better than not being able to fire them after they go on strike and ground an entire nation's air fleet.
Besides that had very little to do with air traffic controller and much more to do with whoever at Malaysia Airlines decided that was a good route to take.
