Because you put too much trust in government being the only entity to do anything right or better than private industry?

The government has the Navy Seals, firefighters, police, weather service. Many things and groups can be privatized, but a long look is needed before the trigger is pulled.
You won't get anymore planes into ATL with privatization and you won't be any safer. With that understood, is it smart to privatize?
More runways might be a better idea to increase airport capacity.

If anyone thinks the airlines would screw this up causing them to crash million dollar planes and kill passengers for whom they are legally responsible that is nuts.

Better off in the hands of private sector with legal accountability than the government who has nearly zero accountability.

As stated before in this thread a few times it's more about modernizing the technology that the government has been accused of dragging their feet on and again, this doesn't do away with the FAA. They'll still be calling shots the airlines will have to adhere to just like the railroads answer to the FRA. Railroads are not run the same way as the air industry presently is. Go check out some stock numbers of railroads against the airlines.

There is a big difference of performance by the two entities over the years.

Please explain how.

Before you mention fewer delays, realize that 95% of delays are due to Wx or airlines losing network functionality.

A modernized NAS isn't going to stop either from happening.

The ADS-B ground stations are all in place, they have been for years. We're just now getting to the point that we can implement them within the modernized automation systems

Typical federal project, by the time it is fully implemented the technology is obsolete.
