Yep, no other prez would even mention it, Bush included. Too much of a political hot potato even if everyone knew the truth. (BTW, this has been going on for at least 15 years in SA).
I say we should take these people in on refugee status (real refugees, you see) and put them in the midwest. I am sure they'd do some of the work illegals are doing now where agriculture is concerned.

But I flat out do not want us to send troops to that place.
If I got to make the decisions, I'd move heaven and earth to evacuate them out of the country permanently, but it is not our job to intervene in this situation.
A wise American once said "Do not go looking for monsters to destroy." If you want to be the world's cop, go find some neocons and pal around with them.
And practically what does anyone want to do? Use FAE on wandering bands of looters? Send in Puff the Magic Dragon (or whatever they call it now)?
You can kill vast numbers of people. But it ain't gonna look good on TV. And to be honest, I don't think they are going to run out of thugs anytime soon.
I hope Trump looks at this thing with a cool head, and really thinks about whether this is our fight.
