I remember when we had to take the test on the schoolyard under Reagan and Arnold.

This is a good thing. I’d love to see who doesn’t support this.

Good.

Kids, especially younger, elementary aged, need multiple hours a day of exercise.

Right now, they do not get nearly enough.

This was one of the biggest issues... It was like ok, today we have salt and tomorrow no salt on anything....

Changing the mindset starts at home but in typical lefty fashion it was rushed and not well thought out... Not to mention, most of the "bad" calories the kids were getting they were not getting from the school lunches....

This is going to require PE teachers to actually work. My kids are athletic and enjoy PE, except the PE teachers are lazier than the kids.

This will require a culture change.

Schools need to move away from the idea of “desk time” and towards a more active system.

This would also assist boys more as well.

I remember doing those annually in school, I loved it. Didn’t get it one year because of the friggin shuttle run.

It’s good this got revived, Hussein thought the test would make fat kids feel bad/left out.

Libtards really are delusional. Men are women. Big is beautiful. Big is healthy.

Funny story about the rope climbing. We had this in the 80s in my elementary school. Just about every boy could do it and many of the girls. I told my daughters about it and showed them videos and they thought it looked easy.

My youngest daughter is a Sectional level swimmer (just below nationals). We went to North Carolina for a meet and had a practice at a swim club that had one of those ropes hanging from the ceiling and dropping in the pool.

She is in great shape, a four stroke swimmer with upper body strength that has no problem racing up a rock wall, and she struggled on the rope. We don't know how good we had it.

1/2 mile run in 4 minutes

20 pushups

Schools are required to provide nutritional meals for children along food & nutrition guidelines just like kids are required an allotted time for PE.

There isn't a damn thing a hungry kid can at home when momma has bought cases of ramen noodle cups, cheap bags of sugar cereal, pasta, SpaghettiOs's with nary a trace of fresh fruit, vegetables or meat with the family SNAP card.

What was the result of her changes. Did the meals improve?

Apparently so. They supposedly even measured a reduction in BMI in some kids.

We know this? There is data on this?

My thing with it is that I'm a conservative, which means that I don't think it's the government's job to solve child (or adult) obesity, or that they can or should police what kids eat at home.

I DO think the government is 100% responsible for what they give kids to eat at government schools, however, and I think an attempt to improve upon what they do legitimately have control over is a positive initiative, at least in concept.

Frankly, I don't think it's the government's job to provide food at all. But if they're going to do it, they should at least do it as responsibly as they can.

As regards this topic, my overall point is that there was tremendous hue and cry against the school lunch initiative from those on the right at the time. There will be tremendous hue and cry against this initiative of Trump's.

And there is nothing wrong—again, at least in concept and conceding that we're going to continue to have schools provide food for schoolkids—with either one.

But the partisan populists will cry anyway. Not because of what the policy is, but because of who proposed them. The right did it with Obama and the left will do it with Trump.

That's all.

Why exactly? I can't see how bringing back physical fitness and education to the youth can be a bad thing, but I'm interested to hear you explain why I'm wrong.

BINGO. Libs are extremely predictable. You’ll see the articles before the end of the week

ETA article headline will be “Trump’s New EO Eerily Reminiscent of Nazi Youth”
