Nah. 100% fair.

i don't think there's any question that alcohol causes more health damage, more violence and more mayhem than weed
I think there are huge questions about health damage. Carbon monoxide. Tar. Just like smoking cigarettes, only without the filters.
Here's what AI says:
quote:
Cannabis use carries significant health risks, including impacts on brain health (memory, IQ, psychosis risk), heart health (increased heart rate/attack risk), lung health (bronchitis, cough from smoking), mental health (anxiety, depression, psychosis), and development in adolescents and fetuses, affecting coordination, decision-making, and potentially causing addiction; risks are higher with early, heavy, or prolonged use, and with methods like smoking.
Brain & Mental Health
Cognitive Decline: Can impair memory, learning, attention, judgment, and reaction time, potentially causing permanent IQ loss if started young.
Psychosis/Schizophrenia: Linked to earlier onset of psychosis and worse outcomes in those with genetic risks.
Mental Health Disorders: Associated with increased risks of depression, anxiety, and suicide planning.
Physical Health
Heart: Increases heart rate and blood pressure, raising risks for heart attack, stroke, and heart disease, especially with daily use.
Lungs: Smoking causes lung irritation, bronchitis, cough, and phlegm; vaping also harms lungs.
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS): Causes severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain in long-term, heavy users.
Cancer: Smoking cannabis smoke contains carcinogens, with links to head, neck, and throat cancers.
Developmental Risks
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: THC crosses placenta and enters breast milk, affecting fetal brain development, potentially causing low birth weight, premature birth, and issues with attention, memory, and problem-solving.
Adolescents: Brain development is particularly vulnerable; heavy use can lead to lasting cognitive deficits.
Violence, o.k. Health problems, there are huge questions about it.

booze is still a million times worse imo
It may be worse, but it's not "a million times worse," and even if it was—like I said from the outset—that's an argument for taking booze off the market, not for putting more weed on the market.
"Booze is worse than weed, but booze is legal everywhere, therefore, weed should be even easier to obtain than booze." That's your conclusion from the implied false dilemma.
But both cause health issues, so there is a third and a fourth choice. Number three, make booze illegal. Number four, make both illegal (again).
The argument that the two of you are making—when I grant the hyperbole—logically tracks with choice number three, not your original conclusion.
And look, I've used weed plenty of times, and I've used alcohol many times. I don't use either any more, but it's not like I don't know anything about it. I am still a big fan of edibles for medical situations. Beats the pants off of traditional pain management drugs IME and IMO.
But it does have health risks. It's foolish to downplay them and act like they are no big deal IMO.

good post
disagree on the first paragraph. we've seen what happens when either are made illegal. just creates a violent black market. people are gonna get drunk/high no matter what. and if we agree that overall weed, while not risk free, does less damage than alcohol, shouldn't it be as readily available? if half the state's drinkers gave up booze for weed only, that would be a net positive
completely agree on marijuana for pain management. i blew my shoulder to smithereens about 10 yrs ago. was prescribed some pretty powerful opiates (dilaudid). didn't do much for the pain and made me nauseous. strong indica gummies were worlds better for the pain
and fwiw, i haven't had a drink in years. still smoke/eat gummies several days a week. california sober as they say

I love how that list makes no sense for so many drugs

What’s the danger in gummies? It’s not smoking it.

Will I be able to smoke and work in chemical plant with a prescription now?
If not I’m disappointed. Everyone else can smoke now.
I’m currently in Las Vegas. It’s everywhere.

Liberals now are gonna openly want to ban all cannabis.
Just watch.
Just watch.

i'm by no means an expert but...
imo, in general terms anything you ingest in any form that isn't food/nutrition or water is time your liver and kidneys have to dedicate to processing that substance. example - i'm playing fast and loose with the numbers but i read a book years ago called i believe mere alcohol. someone that drinks a pint of whiskey a day gets the calories of a 12 oz steak from the booze and sugar. thus, they don't feel as hungry as normal and eat less. so the liver is busy processing the booze when it should be processing a ham sandwich and salad or whatever. so kind of similar - your body still has to process the weed and that carries risk/damage
overall i'd say gummies are far less harmful than smoking. smoking a bowl has real lung damage consequences. for the past 5 yrs or so when i smoke, i use a pax vaporizor. while not harmless, less harmful than raw smoke

Smoking it, vaping it screwed up my lungs, had to switch to edibles. Smoking is particularly harsh.

i can tell a huge difference using the pax vs smoking a bowl. i'm a trail runner - and when i say runner i mean technically i'm moving faster than walking - but i can definitely tell
i can barely - and rarely do - smoke a bowl anymore. cough city.
similar topic - vaping actual weed in a pax is cleaner than vape cartridges. i use those sometimes too, but they're full of butane and other chemicals, especially the cheaper ones. if you're gonna go vape cart, my advice is to get the most expensive one you can

You workin’ for Republic, AB, or SGWS? The 3 are getting wrecked right now due to the THC seltzer market. Or is it that you got laid off from one of them?

I'm just waiting to see how the lefties react when some left wing judge blocks it just so Trump doesn't get a win. That would bring some amusement

Bunch of dope heads in here.
The rant is full of soft leftest, and this place is full of dope heads.
“I don’t care what other people…”
- put in their bodies
- care what they wear
- care who they marry
- care what God they worship
Meanwhile, my children have to share a society with degenerates. You all must think that peers don’t influence one another.
“I don’t care what other people…”
Meanwhile, society keeps degrading and we keep loosing our national identity.
Why do some of yall identify as Conservative at this point

You retard! How many young black men's lives were destroyed or taken away because of weed. Give me a break! Southern University is now growing it and selling it to people as medicine. It should be decimalized and people in federal prison should have a sentence review.

This is for medicinal purposes…. Good grief, the man doesn’t drink alcohol…
Marijuana has been a medical solution from biblical days..
people will, and currently are, abusing it now. This won’t change it… except maybe gain some additional sales tax revenue.

lol list is shite
That has been the list forever. Only thing the government ever moved was Vicodin. They moved Vicodin up to schedule 2 and the world spun off of it axis. It gave rise to heroin and then fentanyl. Which would have never happened to this extent had Norco or hydrocodone not been moved.

Not anymore. They pulled the licenses from LSU/Southern and gave them to the contracted growers/processors Good Day Farms and Ilera Holistic Healthcare.
The main question for me is, "What does rescheduling mean for consumers?"
Will this have any impact on the state-level monopoly in Louisiana? Or will I be able to order from an online out of state pharmacy and have it delivered?
Or will nothing from a consumer standpoint since it's still scheduled and everything will have to go through a "pharmacy".
