I honestly believe he is looking solely at his legacy and wants to “appear strong” for the history books.

He wants to be the one who finally solved the Iran issue, not because it actually serves the USA, but because it ensures his legacy as a wartime president.

If those Norwegians had given him the trinket, none of this would have ever happened.

I think the neocons thought this was the moment for Iran and convinced Trump.

Russia finally was too weak to intervene.

They had the protests and killings.

So they did the "it will be different this time" thing that people have been doing in the ME since WW2 ended.

It's hard to say this would be a victory without regime change, but if that doesn't happen the goal posts will be moved so hard

Johnny Bolton to America: “ There is much more to do in Iran. Regime change has not been achieved. More must be done to incapacitate Iran's retaliatory strike capabilities.”

Without regime change this operation was a failure.

They’ll slaughter Iranian citizens, they’ll rebuild and come back with an even stronger vengeance.

MUH HE HAS NO PLAN!!

The predictable and cliche criticism every time a president engages in a military conflict is the HE HAS NO "PLAN"!! Plan for what? The "HE HAS NO PLAN" is a hollow argument because it simply throws out there a future unknown which nobody can predict or challenge. If the conflict ended today it would be a monumental success. The "PLAN" is to remove the regime, eliminate any nuclear threat, destroys Iran's ballistic missile capability, stop the killing of Iranian citizens by the regime, and set the table for the Iranians to take responsibility for the future or Iran. The notion that the US has to have, and implement, some master "PLAN" within Iran once military operations ceases is simply ludicrous.

Mate, nearly the entire brigade of analysts you call tankies has turned on Trump. What a world.

That’s possible. Another theory goes that he had a discussion with Linsee Graham that ended with “If I agree to bomb the shite out of them will you STFU and go away already”

Look at all the losers in this thread who can't be happy when Trump says we won't be there long. They so desperately want this to ruin Trump's legacy, but they will be left crying once again.

They say they want this to be a short conflict, but then they whine when Trump says it will be. They get on their knees and swallow everything they're fed about Iran winning, but refuse to believe the man who calls the shots.

The losers just want a reason to bitch. If a safer Iran and a safer world is the outcome with very few American casualties, they will still complain. Look for all the "buts" they will flail about when this is concluded successfully.

What is Trump’s legacy at the moment?

Is it stay at home orders and mandatory vaccines? Starting a war? Backing down from Minnesota and Somali fraud? Epstein dying on his watch or not prosecuting those that harmed kids that they have evidence on? Being Israel’s bitch?

What exactly is his legacy?

As many times as we're going to run out of targets, apparently.

Holy shite is his messaging on this horrible. They should stop letting him speak off the cuff.

Selective memory even among us. Remember also the nearly 500 kg of 60% enriched uranium unaccounted for? I remember.

Remember intelligence that was shared by Trump and Rubio that there were signs Iran was reconstituting their nuclear weapons program? I do.

Remember during negotiations Iran turned down the United States offer to provide enriched commercial nuclear fuel in perpetuity for free if they agreed to no longer seek to enrich uranium on their own? I do.

Remember during negotiations Iran told the United States team they had enough enriched uranium to produce 11 nuclear bombs? I do.

Now was it imminent? I’ll take Trump and his team’s perspective over some guy who I don’t know who has been cut out of the loop because he was untrustworthy.

How about they? Now do you remember?

Lasts a couple days, get to kill a bunch of enemies, & no American casualties

We should do it more often
