Honestly, to me, the biggest problem with Rapinoe's conduct is that it is fricking selfish.
She plays a team sport and that team was about to be and now is on the biggest stage available to that sport.
And, it is HIGHLY unlikely that all of her team shares her views but she has decided that it is more important for her to take the focus off this thing that most of those women have worked their entire lives to achieve and make it about her personal pissing contest.
It just shows a complete disregard for one's teammates. Some of whom may never play in another world cup.

This is all stupid just as a disclaimer. But when these teams refuse to go to the White House it's because they think Trump is racist, and his policies don't reflect that. That's my guess at what he's implying.
