re: TRUMP has a point. Why aren't states turning over information to the Voter Fraud Panel?

Here's one of several reasons why this is dumb:
Trump voter-fraud panel’s data request a gold mine for hackers, experts warn

Technical experts say the voter data that the commission wants to assemble would quickly become a single treasure trove for cyber criminals and foreign intelligence services. Identity thieves could use information such as addresses, birth dates and the last four digits of Social Security numbers for digital impersonations, and foreign spies could use it to fill out dossiers on Americans they hope to blackmail.

Security specialists told POLITICO they were especially perturbed about Kobach’s claim that the commission would publish all the voter data it receives. While much of the data the commission requested — including addresses and dates of birth — is already publicly available in states or from third-party vendors, states restrict access to that information in various ways.

Don't they want to look into where there maybe voter fraud? I guess the answer maybe a little too obvious for everyone.
Kris Kobach is the current Kansas Republican secretary of state, and the vice chair of Trump's voting commission. He is the Joe McCarthy of voting fraud.
Trump was a dolt in selecting a zealot like him to co-chair the voting commission.
States that are refusing to turn over voter rolls are claiming that the requested information is beyond what is required to conduct the intended investigation. Several are quoting state law that prohibits turning over parts of the requested information.
Oh, by the way, one of the states that has refused to turn over the voter information is KANSAS.
ETA: How smart is Kobach to include on the list of requested information, information that is prohibited by law from being released BY HIS OWN STATE.

25 states are refusing to do so because the data they are asking for exceeds what is necessary to perform the investigation.
If a subordinate entity is being audited, that entity is not entitled to dictate what can be audited.
Can you imagine if a taxpayer being audited would tell the IRS, "You don't need that information to complete your audit"?
You are being intellectually dishonest or stupid take your pick.

Honestly, I think 2 things about this.
1)The sheer number and diversity of states refusing is a pretty good indication that the commission is over reaching.
2)Many states know their shite is out of order but flat don't care(or worse, facilitate).
Unfortunately, getting to #2 is going to be a challenge which is why securing the border is the primary goal.

State laws prohibit the release of some of the superfluous information requested. And the states win will if they go to court to block releasing the information.
You can bet your next paycheck that the voter commission won't get that information.

The dirty little secret that insiders don't want you to know is that voting has and always will have some fraud involved. Both sides do it but one party has been better at it than the other.

Oh, bullshite. Anyone with the sophistication to do this already has access to all this information. Your SSN and birthdate are probably on dozens of cyber databases already. Try another straw dog.

I don't know how many votes were illegitimate but you better believe it was a significant number. I would not be surprised if the total number of illegal votes from CA, Il, and NY amounted to 500k-1 million.

Folks don't trust the administration. This isn't hard.

Its pretty obvious. When some of the lazy BS the states do and dont follow through with shows that there is potential for fraud. Heads will roll.
This isnt about public anything. Its about CYA.

Why hasn't Trump released his tax returns? Afraid to uncover something? It goes both ways.

Thats not how things work, moron. Going around making claims for people to disprove is possibly one of the biggest wastes of time that I've ever heard of.
Facts have to be proven. You dont just say its fact until disproven. Honestly don't even know why I'm wasting my time.

Why aren't states turning over information to the Voter Fraud Panel?
Because what that information may show would make a case for voter ID, which they don't want any more than a crack dealer wants to live next to a cop.

Elections are not Federal. They are state run.
I thought you R's all believed in states rights?

Or maybe because it violates states rights and people's privacy. Maybe Trump is using it as a distraction.
