Trump going after social conservatives again

Honestly, he can kiss my arse at this point. Leaving my personal feelings out of it about abortion and other bedrock conservative issues like marriage,, this is simply very poor political strategy.
Pro-lifers have been the backbone to the majority of conservative activism and organizing in the Republican party for the past 40-50 years. The pro-life issue is also the reason Catholics flipped to the GOP. Evangelicals are also the most loyal and solid voting bloc in the Republican party. Abandoning them would be absolutely suicidal. This would be equivalent to the Democrats walking on Civil Rights legislation.
As for Trump. No one ever really thought he was a social conservative or anything, it was never a big deal because he was willing to fight for those issues harder than other Republicans because of Trump's willingness to be transactional (which is a good thing). But this also means he will abandon those principles as soon as he thinks it is no longer beneficial (which is a bad thing)
Like I have said before. Trump to me is a vessel, a means to an end. If we can use his transactional nature to secure good policy in our favor, then that is great and Im all for it. I could care less about his personal life or his feelings on the issues, as long as the good policy is getting done. It at least allows us a seat at the table. the bad part is when he uses that transactional nature against us. This is one of those times. And of all issues, the Dobbs ruling will probably be the most lasting legacy of his presidency.

Trump is right on this one.
The OG Neo Cons. Should have listened to Goldwater.

Not allowing carve outs for rape or incest was idiotic, and most outside of the fringe religious right find it insane.

The evangelical vote dwindles by the day.
The pro choice vote gains by the day.
You can write walls of text and downvote all you want but those are the facts.
Even Trump, hardheaded as he is, knows this.
The folks that want no exceptions are a small minority.

That’s up to each individual state.

A vast majority (like 75% of voters) think there should be exceptions. So the hardliners, no exceptions, are a small minority.

Trump is supposed to be a party leader. Where was he?

Well one, never said it wasn't, and two Turtle tried to gather support for a federal ban on abortions.

We maybe small, but you are absolutely screwed without us. Good luck with this stance.
This is great news, maybe evangelicals will finally WAKE UP.He will not be an ally going forward. Keep it up Trump!
Love this! Sending this to my evangelical friends, this will chip away at him being a true prolifer!

No, it is a state's issue, and he understands that, personal opinions aside.
Lindsey Graham was touting an unlawful Federal Ban on abortions prior to the mid-terms. Where did that go?
Cucks like Graham and other RINO's, as well as voter irregularities are the reason R's did not do as well.

If it was the abortion issue in the midterms, what's Trump's excuse for losing in 2020?

It's 'almost' like they knew damn well it would deflate the image of the GOP and they didn't care.
Interesting.
Interesting.

So you are going after the only Republican that would seat SCOTUS justices that would overturn Roe v Wade and return it to a State’s discretion? Sounds like maybe you should reevaluate your stance since the Bush’s of this World did nothing but select moderates like Roberts that won’t rock the boat.

Didn't you hear he had it stolen. Lol. Trump is a loser and never takes blame for his loses.
Keep truthing Trump!

Lol, this is the one sane thing he's said since the midterms.
Don't like the guy but it's common sense that running on abortion was a terrible idea.
Even conservative women have abortions.

Done with him, he did one thing right. But I bet you he regrets it, and statements like this show it. I really hope he starts to push back on the evangelical base, it will be glorious.

Don’t get pissy bc those representing “social conservatives” didn’t have your back (nor mine for that matter).
We need them out. Look at Scalise now. What a scumbag. And he was being rallied around big time.

Trump has this weird, hard-core cadre of supporters that had never actually voted before Trump, and will never actually vote for anyone else. Not sure they're any better for the country than the average Democrat voter is.
