And let me clarify. I do understand the need to be strategic about how to make positive gains on this issue. This is why I said Lindsay Graham was a f*cking idiot. That was clearly not the play there, especially considering Republicans are in the minority and didn't even have the votes.
There is a time and place, and changing the cultural Zeitgeist on the issue is part of it. What Trump is doing here is showing his hand, that he has become frustrated with social conservatives and pro-lifers and that we need to begin to abandon this issue.

Country is gone, but my morals aren't. Some issues are worth not bending on. I compromise on a lot if issues, nit murder though.

The problem is our side has sucked at articulating the issue. Here is Trump straight up using their talking points and gaslightong us on the issue.
Dobbs was a pretty mild ruling all things considered. RvW was a garbage legal ruling, even RBG said as much.
Yet, here is Trump pointing the finger at social conservatives saying "you got what you wished for" BS.

Do you seriously believe women that are raped should be forced to have the baby? I certainly hope you never have a daughter or grand daughter that has to deal with that.

That baby did not commit the crime and should not be murdered for another person's action. The rapist should be jailed and charged, but the baby is an innocent party.

If you think abortion is murder, how can you justify a raped woman getting an abortion?
Can someone who is against abortion but for abortion in the case of rape explain this to me?
I'm not pro-life but I'm trying to understand how it's not hypocritical.

I hate abortion but not having any exceptions (at this point in time) is dumb. The establishment removes our rights via incrementalism, lets use the same tactics in the other direction.
