That's my point. Trump does NOT always do what he says. He said very clearly that we would take over Gaza. We didn't.
We aren't going to "take over" Greenland any more than we took over Gaza. Maybe he's trying to negotiate better terms for more bases on the territory of our NATO ally.

In the past we have had several military bases in Greenland.
We’ve had an under ice base called Camp Century which had its on nuclear reactor as a power source.
Also we have a SAC base at Thule. Several DEW stations were also positioned around Greenland.
If we wanted to occupy Greenland Denmark doesn’t have an effective naval force to put up a fight.

Greenland should be independent of all colonial rule. That way, Greenlanders can make alliances for their own security and self-determination. If that involves deals with the US, so be it. But Greenland cannot be forced to trade one colonial ruler (Denmark) for another (the USA). That would be a disaster.

If we need more military hardware there, we should just expand the bases. It isn't as if they're in downtown. They're out in the middle of nowhere. The Danes probably wouldn't even notice.

Lying about Denmark's unambiguous sovereignty regarding Greenland makes them sound ignorant. Same for injecting "fentanyl!" into any discussion about countries other than China or Mexico.

Maduro facilitated bringing "fentanyl!" and other drugs to our shores for over 20 years. Greenland is for national security in our hemisphere. No doubt they will be richly compensated for being brought into the US as the 51st state. You have a problem with that?
