Gingrich had a 22 -25 seat majority and Clinton was pragmatic. He signed the balanced budget bill sent to him because he knew he wasn't going to get a bill with the spending he wanted. Clinton was never in favor of such an austere budget.

It's called compromise. Pragmatic Presidents like Clinton and Reagan understood he wouldn't get everything he wanted especially with an opposition Congress. Trump faces the same problem. He has an opposition Congrees because there are too many unmovable congressmen and when you have a majority of 3 it becomes near impossible to get anything done.

Other way around. Not a huge fan of Massie but he's consistent overall....certainly not a leftist like Trump and MAGAare trending towards.

That's just dumb.
No. It's not. Clinton was ani-gay marriage, anti-trans, didn't advocate tor ANY path for illegals to gain citizenship, unlike Trump, who has Bruce Jenner as a 'based tranny,' enthusiastically hold up gay flags and thinks we should give migrant graduates citizenship. He's also in favor of massive work visas and eventual citizenship to infinity Indians.

And yes, those were Bill's positions prior to and after he lost the House majority.

Dismissing the guy calling for spending cuts doesn’t mean he will lose, it means that eventually we all will lose.

Try a breakfast of WTFU.

And what's yours for the crushing debt Trump is adding via his 'big beautiful bill'? I love when 'conservatives' defend this.

He wasn't on every issue, like taxes, but pressured or not , he did massively cut welfare. Trump has done none of it, and he's got a majority.

Trump also approved the removal of all language referring to traditional families or traditional family structure in the GOP platform, so he could appease gay voters. shite, the RNC was like the UN last year, with non-English speeches and everything.

The House Freedom Caucus, whose members unanimously supported the budget resolution in April, called for a $1.5 trillion spending reduction — a target the One Big, Beautiful Bill exceeds.

In its statement praising the budget resolution, the caucus specifically praised what it called “the $1.5 trillion spending reduction floor” in the resolution. They also praised Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) commitment “to ensuring the final bill will provide enough spending reduction so that tax cuts will be fully offset.”

“Thank you to President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and [Senate Majority] Leader [John] Thune (R-SD) for your leadership in making this commitment to ensuring a fiscally responsible reconciliation bill,” the statement read.

Tell us what Massie's moves are accomplishing.

Forcing a conversation with the voting public as to all the garbage being left in this bill?

Asking why DOGE cuts to USAID and other obvious leftist agencies are not included?

Discussing the massive (up to $2T?) annual budget deficit being proposed?

Forcing Johnson and the Paul Ryan “fiscal conservatives” in the GOPe to explain how any of this is an improvement over what we had under Biden?

Forcing them to justify why green new deal projects are being left in to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars?

Hes only going to smear himself with the shite stain of a gop’s problem.

GOP hasnt done shite. Not shite in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, not in 2016 nor 2020. Why would they start now?

Massie is basically SFP... A know-it-all contrarian and troll, who just likes to sit back and criticize, act holier than thou or "principled," but doesn't actually do anything. I like some things about him and he is right on some things... but not everything. Politics is always going to require some compromise and deals to be cut to some extent. If you make EVERYTHING a litmus test and take an all-or-nothing line in the sand stance on everything, you're not going to be an effective leader in D.C.. Sometimes you need to look at the big picture, the long game, and choose your battles. Massie and libertarians don't have that mindset. It's just do 100% of what I want and believe, or you get nothing from me and I'll blow everything up to spite you all.
