You are not answering to my point. And cops don't decide how to classify anything. They are instructed how to charge a crime and the DA/ courts do the rest. Are you not seeing the point that "crime" is just as bad, maybe worse, due to reclassifications?
ETA: The biggest dip in crime stats occurred when Troop NOLA was brought in.

So less than 3 weeks ago the Nat Guard was deployed. Tourism was already down because of the crime, but your expectation is people book trips to visit DC and travel within that short timeframe. I guess you decide where to go, book flights and hotels, take vacation time, all within that short window.
Here's a little secret. People weren't planning trips in advance to DC before the National Guard was deployed, they were travelling elsewhere.

New Orleans has 19 million tourists annually and the only murdered tourists were from the terrorist attack on New Years, and he was from Texas.

Trauma centers are nowhere near what they were 25 years ago in number. You don't have Charity and Tulane merged wit EJ out in Metairie. Touro doesn't do anywhere close to the number they did in 2000. Even University which is downtown has had very manageable numbers over the last 10 years overall.
Nowhere near 1994 #s where you were having more than a murder a day.....also the solve rate is up because the lower murder numbers are freeing up resources to investigate. Shootings are down as well and assaults while still too high have been coming down. All these trends started in the last quarter of 2023. First 3 quarters of 2023 were a problem though, but then NOPD busted some pretty rough drug gangs over that summer and that calmed a lot of activity down.
