so its Rouses's fault that LaToddrick is buying crab legs with his EBT card and selling the balance to his cousin for 50 cents cash on the dollar?

It isn't just the fraud, though. The program doesn't work. People that get EBT cards will buy good stuff or not cheat or whatever. Some of those folks will then use their own money to buy booze or whatever. So it basically subsidizes some of those poor choices even when so-called fraud isn't occurring. It's very similar to the "no federal dollars go to abortion" thing the government tries to pull. They still "go to" abortions because PP doesn't have to pay the rent with its abortion money.

While I love this idea, it will never happen.

There is no way in hell democrats will allow this to pass. The EBT program as it exists now is too good of a tool to buy votes.

See: BamaAtl's response.

’m good with this. Good policy if distribution costs don’t eat up savings from fraud.

Tie this in with amazon drone delivery (probably have to send armored cargo drones, but whatevs) and this could be a fantastic program.

This is compassionate conservatism. No more waitin for cards, No more transportation issues trying to get to stores and such. This is really a great idea.

I'm sure Trump is just chomping at the bit to further subsidize Bezos!

Taking advantage of the existing logistics chains of local grocery stores is always going to be cheaper than the federal government actually trying to create and operate a meal-delivery service from scratch.

The problem is assuming ahead of time that the government should be in the feeding business to begin with. If they must, then let's give them either a set list of items they can purchase for free or give them the things directly. Doesn't matter to me which.

Know how long you can feed your family on rice and beans? A long arse time.

I was wondering how long until Amazon offers to do this for the government at a loss just to get the network up and running to monetize later.

LOL at you. I have never seen an EBT user that didn't have extra rolls or a muffin top much less that couldn't afford cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, liquor, beer, whine, zig zag wraps, razor blades, glass roses, chore boys, or lottery tickets.

If you do that, that's less EBT to buy beer and cigarettes, less EBT to sell $100.00 of EBT for $50.00 cash for cell phones, beer, cigarettes. I see it every day/week regularly. Also, they'll have less ribs, chicken at the deli, less pies, cakes, cookies, donuts, candy, cokes, and Little Debbie.

I, for one, think it is a good idea to incentivize people to work for their "want" foods. Give them "need" foods. You want barbecue, you can use your own money. It is a safety net. The whole dignity thing the left has superimposed on the process is horseshite.

It's Rouse's fault if they accept an EBT payment from someone whose name is not on the card.

Really? Every single time I buy boiled crawfish I'm approached by an EBT card holder asking if they buy my food if I will give them money.
