We should be more concerned with worker protection laws

Trump flipped parties several times, last switching to Republican in 2012. He’s really always been a Democrat. People are shocked when he behaves like a Democrat.

They want states entirely out of the equation, hence the multiple efforts by Republicans to slip the sweeping, longterm ban on AI regulations into multiple bills.

Fixed it for you, slick. Your daddy wants the government to own all kinds of companies, and you Trumpettes don't have a problem with it.

Sam Altman donated 1 mill to Trump's campaign.
They aren't even hiding it anymore.

AI development is deemed a national security issue. The government is going to do everything within its power to ensure that the US leads the world in its development. Whether people like it or not. And it wouldn't matter who was in the White House. The exact same things would play out regardless.

I could see several things at play here:

- Anthropic is running away with the game in AI right now…OpenAI may be trying to leverage the market;
- Portions of the Anthropic leadership desire to build a benevolent AI god;
- There could be more dystopian outcomes with government management or control of AI than the private sector;
- Trump is embracing communism, arguably, here…

TWS is just as real as TDS. Overly sensitive personalities with less than optimal ability to comprehend information are usually the most susceptible amongst our communities to becoming infected with one or the other.

If we’re going to get to a point where we’re paying universal basic income the money for UBI is going to have to come from someplace other than tax dollars. The only other thing I can see to provide UBI is the government taking a bigger share of mineral rights.

Ownership in a company is not the same as partnership with a company. One is communism and the other is capitalism. Trump is apparently pursuing the former.

It does not matter how you want to frame it. I'm telling you how it is.

He's signing national security presidential memorandums over this stuff. This is not a race the government is willing to lose. Period. Deal with it how you will.

The merging of government and industry is not socialism, it is fascism.

Our government shouldn't own anything.

If they have money to throw around, give it back.

Well you let me know when that actually comes to fruition and we can have that conversation

Until then its just fodder for the TDS to complain and cry
