How on Earth can a guy make a 610,000 a year be considered to be in the same category even as somebody making 5 million a year? That's fricking retarded
To find the answer you seek, look no further than the people that vote on the tax rates....

Retarded?
You realize that the tax brackets are percentages and not a dollar amounts, right?
So someone that has a taxable income of $5 million vs $0.6 million pays significantly more in taxes right?
Maybe you do realize that though and you just believe that our progressive rates should extend up to 100% and our government should set the max limit on what a person can take home.

Bernie and AOC would be so proud!

I thought we established that the rich don't pay taxes. They live on borrowed money and use loopholes and all sorts of stuff. Will this make any difference at all?

Muh conservative! So no debt limits, CRs business as usual and tax the rich. Best friend democrats ever had.
High taxes, high tariffs, sort of like a democratic wet dream without the trannies.

This would be a very smart political move.
No, it wouldn't.

It would aim to flip the script on Democrats, whose messaging focuses on Republicans potentially slashing Medicaid and enlarging the deficit in order to fund tax cuts for the super-rich.
There is no stupider idea than to adapt marxist principles to "own the libs" in the media.
This is now, at least, the 2nd time i've heard you spout this stupid idea.

$610k is well under top 1%. By any definition both are “rich”
Meh. Rich needs a subjectories. Because a guy making $610,000 a year has more in common with a school teacher than he does with somebody making five or six million a year

What on Earth did I write that would make you think I didn't know this

No the rates in my point are irrelevant. The top rate could be 20% for all I care. The point being is that it seems to me there should be rates at cutoffs Beyond $610,000.

So Trump and Biden both want the rich to "pay their fair share"?

Trump has some Bernie in him.

He always has. Trump has the political bones of an old style populist southern democrat, like the Long brothers, Big Jim Folsom and George Wallace.

This isn't new -
Recently-announced presidential candidate Donald Trump has considered running for the presidency before. One of his more memorable tax policy ideas came in 1999, when he proposed a one-time 14.25% wealth tax on those with a net worth of over $10 million. He said that the tax would raise over $5.7 trillion, wiping away the national debt.

And the switch continues. The Democrats used to be:
Tax the rich
Lower taxes on working class
Pro free speech
Anti-free trade
Pro Union
Food safety
All of these are now Republican issues, or turning in that direction.
As the lure of winning elections pulls them, Republicans will soon start pandering to union bosses. It’s all about winning elections, and populism will always yield another bribe for the common people.
Hopefully this doesn’t go too far in the next four years, and they stick to dismantling the Deep State, getting us out of wars, and cutting the budget. Then Vance can come to power and start formulating a real platform.

It's always amazing how many people let themselves get worked up over anonymous sources from leftists rags like axios.
The bots just need any reason to bitch. They are played so easily by the democrats.
